County Hurdle Tips – Former winner can strike again for talented team
County Hurdle Tips
Daryl Carter (@DarylCarter7) gives the latest of his Cheltenham day 4 tips here as he runs the rule over the County Hurdle, one of the Cheltenham Festival’s biggest handicaps
As you’d expect at this stage, there are plenty of horses in with a decent chance in this race. Here are the ones that I think you should be focusing on.
County Hurdle Tips – Trip Could Find Ciel Out
CIEL DE NEIGE finished second in the Betfair Hurdle and rates a player off a mark of 138. He heads the market here, but perhaps lacks the necessary improvement over this two-mile trip.
His running style suggests that the best is yet to come from this horse but he may need a step up in trip. It’s also wise to avoid favourites in this race at the Cheltenham Festival with a record of 0-12.
Irish Raider High On Shortlist
FRONT VIEW is a talented novice but needs to improve in the jumping department. A huge eyecatcher over 2m5f on his latest start,a drop back to this distance will see him in a better light.
He has an Irish handicap mark of 134 and it was hard not to be impressed by him over 2m at Cork with the form working out well. He is a potential improver going into handicaps and needs to be taken seriously on Cheltenham festival day 4.
Janidil Should Be Swerved
Janidil is a rapid improver this term, including when holding stablemate Ciel De Neige at Fairyhouse on his latest start (Ciel under a suspect ride). Only two horses have won this race in the last ten years off marks this high and they had both competed in the Champion Hurdle previously: Ch’tibello (146) and Arctic Fire (158). Others look better treated.
Chance to win big with free bets
It’s too early to throw in the towel with SON OF CAMAS, as the form of his run at Newbury has worked out remarkably well and there is confidence to think that this horse is better than his handicap mark of 131.
He will scrape in at the bottom of the weights if choosing this route and can be forgiven his run in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle when getting bogged down in the mud. The likely better ground come the end of the week means he is one to keep a close eye on and any Cheltenham Betting Offers you have on the final day can be used on him.
Don’t Rule Out Former Winner
Trainer Dan Skelton farms this race and it would be silly to underestimate 2018 winner Mohaayed, who is only 3lb higher now. He has to rate a serious player if connections have had this in mind since last season.
County Hurdle Tips – Big-race Verdict
Any amount of horses to consider but I like the chances of Mohaayed and Son Of Camas. If I was pushed for a decision, I would side with Mohaayed at this stage but there is a long way to go just yet despite the 25/1 looking incredible value.
