Our 28/1 cross-sport acca came agonisingly close last week, with 2000 Guineas favourite Native Trail the only leg to let us down!
This week we’re going bigger, with a 65/1 cross-sport acca, featuring two of the key races and both late kick off’s in the Premier League on Saturday.

AL AASY (2:20pm Ascot – Buckhounds Stakes) 13/8
First up in the acca is the Listed Buckhounds Stakes, and this can go the way of AL AASY for William Haggas. This is certainly his best trip, with a record of 161122 over the distance. He was within a neck of the winners in both second place finishes, including when runner-up to Pyledriver in the Group 1 Coronation Cup last June.
He won on his reappearance run last season, running out a comfortable winner in the John Porter Stakes at Newbury and beating the likes of Without A Fight, Outbox and Red Verdon. This race is easier than that, and in truth it should only be Third Realm who could give him anything to worry about! He is by far the highest rated horse in the race and his quality should prevail here.
Regular jockey Jim Crowley may not be on board, but that could prove to be a positive after slightly disappointing on his last two starts on the horse. Dane O’Neill has ridden him once before and was a convincing winner that day so the hope is he can get Al Aasy back to his best and get our acca off to the perfect start!
Emily Dickinson (3:15pm Lingfield – Oaks Trial Fillies’ Stakes) 13/8
AP O’Brien and Ryan Moore have been on fire all week and they can land the Oaks Trial with EMILY DICKINSON. The step up in trip to 1m 2f looks to have been the making of her and she should relish this slightly further trip here.
Her reappearance run at Leopardstown when staying on strongly to finish fifth was full of promise and the form is working out nicely. Third placed Hymn Book Too has since come out and won and the first two finished first and second in the Listed Cheshire Oaks earlier this week.
Following that run she came out and won impressively at Navan, getting the job done despite being short of room and having to switch her run. She is clearly getting better with each race and should come here fully primed to land the honours.
As mentioned earlier, the trainer and jockey could hardly be in better form this week, and they have won this race before. They teamed up in 2016 with Seventh Heaven and look to have another excellent opportunity this time around with Emily Dickinson, who should take all the beating in this.
MAN UTD To Beat Brighton + RONALDO To Score (5:30pm) 5/2
On to the football, and MAN UNITED face arguably their favourite opposition in recent years with their trip down south to Brighton. The Red Devils have won each of the last SEVEN head-to-heads with Brighton, and with Brighton yet to win at home in 2022 (D4, L4), they’re certainly playing them at the right time.
Brighton have struggled at home all season, with the third worst home form in the league all season. Only Norwich and Watford have a worse record at home this season, and both those sides are set to be playing in the Championship next season. In 17 games, Brighton have only scored 12 goals at the Amex Stadium and have failed to score in five of their last six home matches.
As for Man United, they’ve scored in all but two of their away games in all competitions this season, so you can expect them to find the back of the net here. If they are going to score, the chances are the goal will come from their superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s scary to think where United would be this season if it wasn’t for his goals!
The 37 year old has netted 18 goals in the Premier League this season, including in each of his last four appearances. He also netted the opener when these sides met earlier in the season, scoring a trademark thunderbolt from just outside the area. If United are going to win this, they’ll be relying on CR7 to do the business yet again and keep up their excellent record against the Seagulls.
LIVERPOOL To Beat Tottenham + BTTS (7:45pm) 7/4
If you’re looking for an in-form team to back this weekend, you can’t go wrong with LIVERPOOL. The reds have won 14 of their last 15 matches in the Premier League and should continue that run against Tottenham on Saturday evening. Jurgen Klopp has got his team firing on all cylinders and they still have every chance of landing an unprecedented quadruple this season. In order to do that, they simply cannot afford to drop points against Tottenham.
They shouldn’t have too much of an issue there, having only lost to Tottenham at home once in the last 27 matches at Anfield. It’s not just Tottenham that struggle at Anfield, as Liverpool are unbeaten at home all season, only dropping points against Chelsea, Man City and Brighton earlier in the season. They’ve won their last twelve games at home in the Premier League, and will be confident of continuing that run this weekend.
Tottenham may prove tough opposition however, with Antonio Conte’s team still battling for a top four finish. They will fancy their chances of scoring against Liverpool, with the reds having had a tough game away to Villarreal in the Champions League semi-final in the week. Liverpool’s defence seems to be at their weakest after a Champions League game, conceding 8 of their 22 goals this season in the games straight after a Champions League match. It’s also worth noting that Spurs scored twice in the reverse fixture this season.
Both teams have scored in eight of the last ten head-to-heads, including the last four games at Anfield. Liverpool won three of those, with Tottenham snatching a 95th minute equaliser in the other. Couple that with the fact these two sides have five of the top six goalscorers in the Premier League this season:
- Salah (22 goals)
- Son (19 goals)
- Jota (15 goals)
- Mane (14 goals)
- Kane (13 goals)
Everything points towards a Liverpool win here, and with Tottenham’s counter-attacking system set to seize any opportunity they can take, we’re banking on both sides finding the back of the net too.
