CURRAGH TIPS ON SATURDAY – IRISH HORSE RACING BEST BETS
1:10 Curragh – Juddmonte Farms Expert Eye Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden (2yo) 7f
MANU ET CORDE shaped well on his debut over this course and distance last month and with that experience under his belt Jim Bolger’s charge can improve here to get off the mark.
The Teofilo colt was only beaten a half-length on that occasion behind Atomic Jones, crossing the line in a close fifth where he briefly led in the last furlong but was unable to sustain his effort to the line.
He’ll know more this time around and is open to improvement so ought to make his presence felt and he can overturn debut form with reopposing Shark Bay who finished just ahead of him last time.
1:45 Curragh – Dingle Whiskey Nursery Handicap (2yo) 6f
THREEBAGSFULL has improved with each start, getting off the mark at Bellewstown at the fourth attempt recently and Johnny Murtagh’s charge can progress again here to follow up that recent victory.
The Requinto colt still looked a little raw around the edges but he ultimately ran out a ready winner and there’s likely better to come from him representing a yard that is in good form as he makes his debut in a handicap.
A mark of 87 doesn’t look overly harsh and while he has a bit to do on bare form to beat Admiral D who finished ahead of him previously he surely has more to offer and no surprise to see him in the mix again here.
2:50 Curragh – Paddy Power Sapphire Stakes (Group 2) (3yo+) 5f
LOGO HUNTER has shown greatly improved form this term, winning four of his six starts and the Brazen Beau gelding can continue on his upward trajectory despite this rise in class.
Michael Browne’s charge arrives here on a hat-trick having posted recent victories at Naas and Cork in Listed company, latterly beating Dickiedooda by just over one length and there could yet be more to come from him.
The form of that latest success has been done little harm since and has thrown up a subsequent winner so with the prospect of further improvement still to come he can go well again here and no surprise if he were to pick up another win despite stepping into a higher grade.
5:10 Curragh – Aquaturf Handicap (3yo+) 2m
EVER PRESENT struck for this column when successfully defending his unbeaten record at Leopardstown nine days ago and the Elusive Pimpernel gelding can improve again to land the hat-trick.
Jessica Harrington’s charge had shown some very smart in bumpers during the jumps campaign, winning at Punchestown and competing against the likes of Sir Gerhard and Kilcruit prior to switching to the level where he’s struck twice at Leopardstown.
He was value for more than the half-length winning margin last time when amateur ridden and Shane Foley takes over now as he makes his debut in a handicap where a 95 rating might not prove beyond him given his potential for better and he ought to make a decent fist of this hat-trick attempt.
