The afternoon’s flat racing action sees fixtures at Bath and Beverley; while in the evening there is also flat racing action from Brighton. Meanwhile Southwell are racing over the sticks on Tuesday evening.

We’ve looked over each of the day’s meetings to pick out our daily racing tips on Tuesday and best bets for each fixture going to post.

1:45 Beverley – Taff Sarginson Memorial Handicap Cl6 (3yo+ 0-55) 5f

ATYAAF has been in good form since returning from a break, twice finishing runner-up either side of scoring at Bath and Ivan Furtado’s charge can resume winning ways here.

The Invincible Spirit gelding struck by a half-length to register that victory at Bath two starts ago and he was latterly beaten by the same margin at Leicester last month behind Under Curfew who could boost the form when turning out in an earlier contest at Bath.

He was only run down late that day and a 3lbs rise for that near miss could prove lenient in a fairly ordinary race so there’d be no surprise in seeing him post a big effort here and he can get back on the scoresheet.

2:35 Bath – Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap (Bath Summer Stayers’ Series) Cl6 (3yo+ 0-55) 1m3½f

MERLIN’S BEARD stepped up on a trio of moderate efforts on the all-weather in maiden company when finishing fifth over this course and distance last month behind Super Superjack, beaten three lengths in a first-time hood and Richard Hughes’ charge can build on that better effort to get off the mark here.

The Dark Angel gelding had been running over shorter trips but appeared to relish the stiffer test despite being slowly away from the gates, running on strongly late and further improvement can see him open his account now.

He races here without headgear but features off a low mark and this doesn’t look a particularly strong race so every chance he can make his presence felt if building on that last performance.

3:15 Beverley – 135th Year Of The Watt Memorial Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 2m

GOLDEN FLAME found himself out of his depth in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot when chasing a hat-trick of victories, but Mark Johnston’s charge can quickly bounce back here back in much calmer waters.

The Golden Horn colt had struck wins over shorter than this distance at Bath and Chelmsford in April, scoring by an aggregate nine lengths prior to stepping into Group Two company latest where he beat only one home.

However he returns to handicapping now which will surely prove more suitable and the longer trip here should pose no issue so every chance he can resume winning ways here in a race where he comes out best at the weights.

6:15 Southwell – Download The Casumo App Today Handicap Chase Cl3 (5yo+ 0-140) 3m½f

WHAT’S OCCURING made a winning chase debut at Ludlow back in October 2019 and the lightly-raced sort can build on a near-miss reappearance at Uttoxeter last month to get back on the scoresheet here.

Oliver Sherwood’s charge won twice over hurdles during the 2018/19 campaign prior to embarking on on a chase career and that win over the larger obstacles was his sole start in the 2019/20 season where he was absent for more than a year following that victory.

The Rail Link gelding made a promising return but went the wrong way on his next outing and he was given another break before his latest return where he found only one too good.

That form looks fair and he hinted that he might appreciate a stiffer test so this step up to three miles can unlock some further improvement in the eight-year old who could go close in a race where none of the five can be discounted.

Daily racing tips on Tuesday. Oliver Sherwood can saddle a winner on the Southwell racecard.

7:05 Brighton – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Maiden Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 1m2f

WOOTTON CREEK has yet to get her head in front, but Mark Johnston’s charge has been running quite well in defeat and better than her recent form figures suggest latterly finishing fourth for the second successive time at Pontefract last month behind The Flying Ginger.

That was just her second start in a handicap and the form looks fair in the context of this race which sees her dropping into a Class 5 contest where she goes up in distance.

The extra yardage could unlock some improvement given her breeding and this looks a decent opportunity for her to get off the mark.

8:50 Southwell – Gamble Responsibly With Casumo Handicap Hurdle (Div II) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m4½f

ISTHEBAROPEN has hit the crossbar on her last two starts either side of a break where she had wind surgery and her latest near-miss came over this course and distance behind Kentford Mallard last month when beaten four lengths.

Gary Hanmer’s charge was possibly unsuited by the strong pace on that occasion but she ran well nonetheless and the Grape Tree Road mare can remain competitive despite a 3lbs rise in the weights with Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle.

She could improve for that first run in three months following the wind operation and she ought to make her presence felt again here with a repeat of that last effort.
