Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes – Our 1-2-3 Prediction For Thursday’s Group 3

The feature race on Thursday comes from Salisbury, with the Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes at 3:20pm. Here at Racing Tips, we have provided our 1-2-3 for the feature which you can check out below, alongside an exclusive offer from Bet365:

1st – Miami Girl (8/1)

In recent years, it can often pay to simply side with whoever Richard Hannon has in the race. In the last five years, his horses have finished:

  • 2017 – Anna Nerium (1st)
  • 2018 – Come On Leicester (3rd)
  • 2019 – Dark Lady (1st) + Kemble (9th)
  • 2020 – Happy Romance (1st) + Rhythm (8th)
  • 2021 – N/A (didn’t have any entries)

So in the past five renewals, he’s won three of the four he’s had entries in, and placed in the other. Both Kemble (50/1) and Rhythm (80/1) were both outsiders too so can easily be forgiven for finishing off the pace.

He has two entries this year – Immortal Beauty and Miami Girl. Of the pair, we’re keen to side with Frankie Dettori’s mount MIAMI GIRL. There’s plenty to like about her form, particularly her three most recent races.

At Royal Ascot, she finished fifth in the Queen Mary Stakes (Maria Branwell third), but was hampered early on and still only finished less than five lengths off the winner Dramatised. Next time out, she won a Class 2 at Windsor, where the runner-up Cuban Mistress has since won in Listed company. Most recently, she could only finish 11th in the Super Sprint at Wetherby, but even then she was only three lengths behind Maria Branwell there, and she was giving her 6lb that day. They’ll be racing off equal weights today so we expect that form to reverse.

The only doubt we have is she’s yet to race over six furlongs, but her breeding suggests it should suit and she can maintain Richard Hannon’s superb recent record in the race.

2nd – Juliet Sierra (8/1)

The lightly races JULIET SIERRA may only have two races to her name, but it’s the form of her debut second to Streets Of Gold which we’re extremely keen on.

When you look at how the form is working out, it’s easy to see why:

  • Streets Of Gold (1st) – 3/3 now after Class 2 win at York LTO.
  • Juliet Sierra (2nd) – Our selection who won next time out.
  • Manitou (3rd) – Cosy winner next time out.
  • Tostado (5th) – Class 2 winner next time out.
  • Geralt Of Rivia (6th) – Improved to finish 2nd next time out.

As you can see, the form of that race could hardly be working out any better. Juliet Sierra followed up with victory at Nottingham next time out, cruising through the race before being pushed out for a comfortable win.

She takes a big step up in class here but her class is evident and she’s good enough to chase home the selection. She looks a fantastic E/W pick.

3rd – Maria Branwell (9/2)

David O’Meara’s MARIA BRANWELL heads the betting and is probably a deserved favourite on the pick of her form. Her last couple of runs have been disappointing though, and she may find a couple too good again here (hopefully Miami Girl and Juliet Sierra!).

Having started her career with two wins, including the Listed National Stakes at Sandown, she looked certain to be one to keep on side with. She lost her unbeaten status when finishing a three-length third to Dramatised in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot next time out, before a poor showing in the Super Sprint where she was sent off as 9/4 favourite but could only finished eighth.

She stepped up to 6f for the first time in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes last time out, but didn’t seem to last and eventually tailed off into sixth.

Dropping back into Group 3 company should help her, and it would be a surprise if she wasn’t in the mix at the finish. However, she’s proving difficult to win with these days and a place could be her best hope.

1st – Miami Girl

2nd – Juliet Sierra

3rd – Maria Branwell
