Friday’s Extra Place Each-Way Tips

Two starts ago, CRYSTAL SPIRIT made all to secure an impressive maiden victory on heavy ground at Lingfield. Jim Boyle’s charge found himself outclassed and outpaced last time out, finishing seventh on good ground at Huntingdon. This is a big drop in class, the handicapper has dropped his rating by five pounds, and softer ground conditions are certainly in his favour.

CAUTIOUS APPROACH found eight furlongs a little too sharp last time out. Richard O’Brien’s five-year-old had struck over a-mile-and-a-quarter previous to that, and might have challenged over this trip, had it not been for traffic problems at the beginning, and again at the end. He’s capable of contending now back up in distance.

It’s almost a year to the day of GREGARIOUS‘ last win, that coming in a Class Four Handicap at Carlisle. Four defeats over hurdles, and one over fences have followed, leading to the handicapper dropping Lucy Wadham’s seven-year-old down to a career-low mark of 107. He’s yet to win over further than two miles, but there’s no doubting Gregarious is very well-handicapped and Maxime Tissier takes a useful five pounds off his back.

Although he’s yet to win this term, ROARING RORY has displayed good consistency – something you rarely see down at Class 7 level. Ollie Pears’ charge beat rival Kroy over course-and-distance in November 2018 and runs today off a highly-workable mark of 50. He should be strong enough to deal with top-weight.
