Four Winning Favourites On Thursday, July 1st

It’s a busy Thursday’s racing, and here at Racing Tips, we are aiming to simplify this by providing four favourites across the cards that we feel will win. Today’s selections come from Perth, Yarmouth and Newbury – and all four selections combined can be backed in an accumulator that comes out at a healthy 59/1.

Chasing appeared to be the making of PRESENTANDCOUNTING when the gelding scooted clear to score at Worcester in May. The second and third-placed horses have both subsequently come out and franked that form.

Presentandcounting failed to supplement that victory when second at Perth last time out, but he possibly just bumped into a well-handicapped rival that day, and there looks nothing of the winner’s class in this line-up.

With the ground in his favour, he can be expected to make a return to winning ways this afternoon.

ELECTRIC LOVE – 2.55 Yarmouth – 2/1

Everything points towards a bold showing from ELECTRIC LOVE, who showed a taking turn of foot to score over course and distance six days ago.

The return to fast ground clearly suited her there, and she has similar conditions to her advantage for this afternoon’s race.

A six-pound penalty for last week’s victory leaves Electric Love three pounds well in on her revised handicap mark, and therefore it is understandable that connections are keen to get her out again and supplement that victory – current quotes of 2/1 look attractive.

LOWNDES SQUARE – 4.40 Yarmouth – 2/1

The most interesting runner in this handicap is the unexposed LOWNDES SQUARE, who improved for the switch to handicaps when a close second at Lingfield a fortnight ago.

That was also his first start after being gelded, and the handicapper has far from overreacted by pushing him up two pounds since that aforementioned Lingfield second.

A 120,000 guineas foal, and half-brother to the Group class Lightning Moon and The King, it seems incredibly unlikely that a mark of 57 will prove the ceiling of Lowndes Square’s ability, and on pedigree the switch to turf looks, if anything, a further plus for his chances today.

With Tom Marquand booked, the current 2/1 available on Lowndes Square makes appeal.

ICE STATION ZEBRA – 7.53 Newbury – 2/1

Ralph Beckett’s ICE STATION ZEBRA had a successful three-year-old campaign, winning three of her six starts, and she made a winning start to life at four when scoring at Kempton just over three weeks ago.

The form of that race looks strong, with the runner-up coming into the race on the back of victories at Chelmsford and Brighton, and as it was Ice Station Zebra’s first run of the season, she is entitled to strip fitter this afternoon.

With ground conditions in her favour and a two-pound rise more than manageable, she looks sure to run another big race this evening.
