Fab Four Favourites To Win On Thursday, June 24th
Four Winning Favourites On Thursday, June 24th
It’s a busy Thursday’s racing, and here at Racing Tips, we are aiming to simplify this by providing four favourites that we feel will win. Today’s selections come from Newcastle, Newmarket, Leicester and Hamilton – and all four selections combined can be backed in an accumulator that comes out at a healthy 59/1.
OPEN MIND – 2.35 Newcastle – 5/4
Saeed bin Suroor’s OPEN MIND can make it third time lucky when lining up at Newcastle tomorrow. This colt by Cable Bay stepped forward markedly on a modest Pontefract debut when third at Sandown less than a fortnight ago.
His dam Bonhomie was a winner on Tapeta, so he is bred to appreciate this surface, and recent Royal Ascot winning rider Stefano Cherchi removes a valuable five pounds off his back.
He is unlikely to need to improve significantly on the form of that last run to play a big part in proceedings here.
ALABAMA BOY – 4.45 Newmarket – 5/2
Ed Walker’s ALABAMA BOY has improved markedly from two to three, as shown by his two handicap wins this season.
He won with a fair bit in hand on the Rowley mile here latest, and as such the three-pound rise that he receives looks unlikely to prevent him putting up another bold showing, particularly with Oisin Murphy booked to do the steering for the first time.
CANOODLED – 8.45 Leicester – 11/8
It was good to see CANOODLED deservedly get her head in front at Lingfield last time having gone close on both of her starts prior to that.
Ed Walker retains the faith in pilot Saffie Osborne here, and under a six-pound penalty for that aforementioned Lingfield success Canoodled arrives here four pounds well in on her revised handicap mark.
Despite that Lingfield victory coming on soft ground Canoodled has already proven her proficiency on conditions similar to these, and therefore the 11/8 currently available makes a great deal of appeal in what rates as a weak affair.
LANGHOLM – 9.00 Hamilton – 9/4
Tried over a variety of distances last season, LANGHOLM confirmed that 6f was indeed his optimum distance when landing a Carlisle handicap ten days ago.
Connections have wisely chosen to get him out quickly under a penalty for that success, with Langholm in effect two pounds well in on his revised handicap mark.
Quick ground clearly suits this Dark Angel gelding, and he has proven earlier in his career that he can carry his form – having gained back-to-back wins at Beverley when previously trained by Declan Carroll.
The more recent of those successes came off a mark of 57, which suggests that Langholm still has wriggle room off his current rating of 56 – he looks a deserved favourite to win the closer on Hamilton’s card.
