Four Winning Favourites On Wednesday, June 23rd

It’s a busy Wednesday’s racing, and here at Racing Tips, we are aiming to simplify this by providing four favourites that we feel will win. Today’s selections come from Carlisle, Worcester and Kempton – and all four selections combined can be backed in an accumulator that comes out at a healthy 44/1.

MADAME BONBON – 2.20 Carlisle – 6/4

Stepped forward markedly on a modest debut effort at Haydock (6f) when a close second back over that same course and distance a fortnight ago. She was only caught in the shadows of the post there, and this rates as a weaker assignment.

The better ground was probably the reason for that huge jolt of improvement, so with similar conditions to contend with here, there is no reason why she shouldn’t put up a similar showing – which should be enough to land this.

EDINBURGH CASTLE – 3.45 Worcester – 6/4

Smart on the level for Andrew Balding earlier in his career, and he has shown an aptitude for hurdling in two starts for current connections.

Beaten just under two lengths at Uttoxeter latest, and he had to be snatched up thereafter jumping into the back of rivals.

Drying ground looks a big plus here and that Uttoxeter run looks the strongest piece of hurdling form on offer in this race.

KING’S GUARD – 7.10 Kempton – 4/5

Well-bred colt from the family of Group 1 winner Naaqoos. Weak in the market on debut at Nottingham earlier this month, but he belied that weakness to finish a respectable 2nd. Connections had used that exact same race to previously unleash superstar sprinter Blue Point back in 2016.

The winner there Love De Vega looked above average, and the two directly behind had run previously, so the effort can be upgraded in the circumstances.

Should have learnt plenty from that initial experience and top pilot William Buick is now booked to do the steering. Should be tough to stop here at a track where his trainer is currently operating at an over 40% strike rate in the last five seasons.

VIOLA – 8.10 Kempton – 3/1

Form tailed off badly at the backend of last year, but she bounced right back when scoring (on her return from over 200 days off the track) at Lingfield last month.

Entitled to strip fitter with that outing under her belt, and therefore a three-pound rise is unlikely to prove insurmountable.

Recent Royal Ascot winning rider Stefano Cherchi claims a valuable five pounds, and the majority of these rivals arrive looking a little more exposed.
