Free horse racing tips – Selections for Leicester & Chelmsford

Brian Healy looks over Thursday’s UK horse racing meetings where only two meetings survive as the weather continues to bite and gives his free horse racing tips and best bets for every race.

From a scheduled five UK and Irish horse racing meetings we are now faced with just two fixtures going to post following the loss of the meetings at Kelso, Fontwell and Clonmel in Ireland.

Only Leicester flies the flag for Thursday’s jumps racing action; while on the all-weather under the floodlights there is a meeting on the Chelmsford polytrack.

Chelmsford (flat, aw) – 5.30 – 8.30pm (7 races)
Leicester (jumps) – 2.00 – 6.30pm (6 races)

Brian Healy gives his Thursday horse racing selections and tips for both meetings and highlights his best bets at Chelmsford and Leicester on Thursday.

LEICESTER FREE TIPS

(2.30 Leicester)

EVERLANES (11/4, William Hill) has shaped with some ability in both her starts to date over fences and she duly got off the mark at the second attempt with a five lengths’ success over Loveherandleaveher at Taunton last month.

The Shirocco mare had finished third on her chase debut behind Annie Mc at Wincanton and that one has won both subsequent outings so the form looks pretty fair now.

She made no mistake when last seen, jumping well in the main and already looking the likeliest winner when Outofthisworld crashed out three fences from home to leave her clear of her rivals.

This is tougher and she’s been hit with an 8lbs rise in the ratings; but there could be more to come from her over fences and she can follow up here where she gets weight all round.

(3.00 Leicester)

CLONDAW WESTIE (6/1, William Hill) is a past course winner and Lawney Hill’s charge could bounce back to winning ways here.

The Westerner gelding struck his latest outing at Stratford last March on his third run of the campaign and he has historically needed a couple of runs to put him right. He’s had two runs this term, finsihing fourth on his return at Kempton before unseating latest at Sandown when tailed off although that was a stronger race than this.

He might still have needed that run and he could do better here where he eases slightly in grade. He’s only 1lb higher than when last successful and he might be worth chancing to post an improved effort now.

2.00 – Vocaliser

3.00 – Clondaw Westie
3.30 – First Flow

(6.00 Chelmsford)

COME ON BEAR (3/1, William Hill) posted a career-best effort when getting off the mark at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and the Dandy Man mare can follow up here.

Alan Bailey’s charge was 1lb out of the weights when beating Rockesbury by one length in an apprentice riders’ contest last time, staying on well for the win. She can turn out here from 1lb lower in the weights in a contest that looks no more taxing than that last outing and her young rider can utilise her 7lbs claim here.

Due to go up in the weights for future outings, she is weighted to strike again and every chance she can double up returning to polytrack.

(7.00 Chelmsford)

SOLAR HEIGHTS (8/11, Bet365) has a good record at this venue, winning three times and making the frame on another occasion from five starts at the Essex track.

James Tate’s Cape Cross filly posted her latest back in August last year where she ran out a six lengths’ winner over Tough Remedy; but her subsequent run over the same course and distance was too bad to be true and she was surely amiss in that outing.

Given a break, she returned with a fair effort at Wolverhampton and duly built on that reappearance when last seen out late last month. She was denied by less than one length in that run and she had a couple of these behind on that occasion.

But, back on tapeta here from just 2lbs higher in the weights she sets the standard and every chance she can go one better to resume winning ways. She has upwards of 7lbs in hand of these rivals in the ratings and given her good record here she ought to prove a tough nut to crack.

(8.30 Chelmsford)

The application of cheekpieces has certainly helped SUBLIMINAL (4/1, William Hill) to find a jolt of improvement and the Arcano gelding is 2-3 since being fitted with the headgear.

Simon Dow’s charge finished third over one mile on her first outing in the cheekpieces, but a step back up to ten furlongs has coincided with back-to-back successes the latest of which came when a short-head victor over Dangerous Ends at Lingfield last month.

His rider’s saddle slipped close home on that occasion, but he had enough in reserve to hold off the runner-up’s charge and a 3lbs rise in the weights for that win is offset by the claim of Thore Hammer Hansen who takes a handy 5lbs off his back.

He can continue to thrive in the cheekpieces and while he’s done all his winning at Lingfield he can prove competitive here and every chance he could land the hat-trick.
