GRANIA O’MALLEY (2.00 Cartmel, 2m1f handicap chase)

Soft ground may not have been expected by many at this time of year but there has been plenty of rain at Cartmel in the last few days.

Two previous winners head the market here and carry a penalty for recent wins but we’re going to take them on with the seemingly out of form Grania O’Malley.

She finished stone last on her latest run at Southwell but better can be expected today as she’s now 3lb below her last winning mark and trainer Evan Williams’ horses are starting to run better.

LOUGANINI (3.30 Sandown, 1m2f handicap)

All six runners in this race are promising three-year-olds who are open to plenty of improvement.

We’re going to be backing Louganini who come from a long way back after being hampered when winning at Haydock last time.

That looks strong form and expectation is he could prove better than his mark on time. Needs to prove he goes well on firm ground but has a big chance under the brilliant Hollie Doyle.

AUTHORIZO (3.45 Cartmel, 2m1f handicap hurdle)

Formerly trained by Gordon Elliott and was given wind surgery by trainer Oliver Greenall after his first two runs for him.

Has since caught the eye in two runs over the minimum trip, staying on strongly on both occasions and appears to be running into form.

Was thought good enough to run in the Triumph Hurdle last year by Elliott so obviously has some class.

ARABIC CHARM (4.35 Sandown, 7f handicap)

Attempted to make all but caught just late on when third over a mile at Windsor last time, so the drop to 7f looks certain to suit.

That form looks solid with the runner-up since going on to win impressively so plenty to like about the chances of this one.
