4:45 Tramore – Tramore Tourism Handicap Chase (5yo+ 0-102) 1m7½f

DOWNTHECELLAR posted a career-best effort over the larger obstacles when successful at Limerick last month and Edward O’Grady’s charge could be worth chancing to follow up here.

The Arcadio gelding had returned from a break to finish third at Downpatrick the time before, but he showed some improved form to run out a winner over Optum latest, scoring by one length and now he’s off the mark he could build on that effort here.

The handicapper has had a say with a 6lbs rise in the weights, but with the potential for better he looks worth sticking with here to follow up.

7:05 Down Royal – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap (4yo+) 1m4½f

MERROIR might have found the test too much for him when stepped up in trip for his last run at Killarney and it may be worth chancing Joseph O’Brien’s charge as he returns to this more suitable distance.

The Born To Sea filly had won the time before with victory over Alohamora at Gowran Park in April where he ran out a three lengths’ winner and he finished fourth latterly when tried over an extended two miles, beaten around seven lengths and possibly failing to get home.

He can do better back down in trip and racing from the same mark here, while his rider’s claim adds further strength to his chances and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him run well here.

FRAZEL EXPRESS has just one win to her name which came in a bumper at this venue a few seasons ago when the Yeats mare was trained by Peter Fahey.

She’s been lightly raced in her career since with a number of lengthy absences on her record; but she returned from almost eight months off to find just one too good at Downpatrick latest and if she can build on that performance then she might be capable of going one better.

She was no match that day for the winner, finishing some 15 lengths adrift of Magic Piper although she in turn was clear of the third horse home. The handicapper has left her mark unchanged here but Simon Torrens can use his claim this time around and takes a very useful 3lbs off the mare’s back so every chance of a big run if she turns out here in similar form.

7:35 Down Royal – BoyleSports Live Casino Handicap (3yo) 1m4½f

BELL EX ONE has been in good form this campaign, winning at Gowran Park over shorter than today’s trip last month, but showing this distance to be no problem when finishing runner-up next time at Roscommon.

The Excelebration gelding again found one too good at Sligo when last seen but could get back to winning ways here as he steps back up in distance and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a big performance from him.

He was beaten just over one length over this trip when finishing behind Social Distance who has won again since, but he possibly wasn’t seen to best effect having been slowly away and then hampered early and he was probably racing further back than ideal.

He kept on well though without quite getting to the winner and there could be more to come from him over this trip.
