FRIDAY TIPS FOR THE DAY’S MEETINGS – BEST BETS OVER THE STICKS & ALL-WEATHER

1:25 Warwick – Franco “Firework” Esposito Is 40 Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m3f

FOXINTHEBOX has finished runner-up in starts between the flags and in a bumper when last seen and it might be worth chancing the Presenting gelding to make a winning debut over hurdles.

Olly Murphy’s charge was only beaten a nose in that bumper contest at Aintree back in May behind Latitude where he showed inexperience before running on late and just failing to overhaul the winner.

He’ll have learned from that and he’s sure to have been well-schooled ahead of this hurdles debut so he could be worth chancing here with his yard in decent fettle.

2:10 Hexham – Esther Sidgwick Memorial Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 1m7½f

FETE CHAMPETRE shaped well on his recent reappearance where the Robin Des Champs gelding ran out a comfortable winner at Kelso and Rose Dobbin’s charge can build on that effort to follow up.

An impressive debut winner of a Kelso bumper last November he has proved steadily progressive over hurdles, winning at Wetherby in April and returning from almost six months off to beat Iolani by a half-length although he was value for more than the official distance.

He’ll be sharper with that under his belt and he has the scope to take well to chasing now and a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise for a yard doing well at present.

2:20 Fontwell – Download The Casumo App Today Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 2m2f

ON THE WILD SIDE won twice over hurdles last term before posting a solid fifth in a decent handicap contest at Newbury which was won by Flash The Steel and Richard Newland’s charge can get back to winning ways here at the second attempt over fences.

The Robin Des Champs gelding returned from more than ten months off and having undergone a wind operation only to unseat his rider at Hexham last month, still in with every chance although his jumping to the point of his departure had been somewhat sketchy.

He’ll have learned from the experience however and is capable of better with a run under his belt now and the application of a tongue-tie could prove another positive so he is worth giving another chance.

3:05 Warwick – Jewson Stratford-Upon-Avon Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 3m1½f

ACCORDINGTOGINO comes with risks but Dan Skelton’s charge is capable of going close here if on a going day and he might be worth chancing to defend the crown he won twelve months ago from just 3lbs lower in the weights.

The Perugino gelding saw off Anthony by ten lengths on that last occasion but his form since has been a little patchy although he did twice finish runner-up in the spring at Stratford and Cheltenham respectively although his last couple of outings have been disappointing.

He shaped as if possibly amiss last time at Stratford, never involved following an early mistake but he is capable of better form and he could bounce back here having eased 2lbs in the weights.

5:00 Newcastle – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (Div II) Cl6 (3yo+ 0-65) 7f

MILLIONAIRE WALTZ arrives here in search of a hat-trick of wins and the Heeraat gelding can oblige punters by landing the three-timer.

Ben Haslam’s charge has won his last two starts over this course and distance, latterly beating Listen Again by the thick end of three lengths, readily and the form has since been given a boost with the third winning next time.

He has a 5lbs penalty to carry here for that success but he could still have some improvement to come judging on that last run and with the potential to improve and remain ahead of the handicapper he looks worth sticking with here.
