Friday’s All-Weather Tips
Jack Haylett has picked out three all-weather tips, covering races at Lingfield, Dundalk and Newcastle on Friday 31st January.
Jack may not have found a winner yesterday, but this all-weather tips column for Racing Tips often serves up a winner or two. He’s got three more horses for you to back today, check them out below. Best odds available with William Hill…
I put Dana Forever into the notebook when last seen, that day she didn’t get the best of trips having been posted wide throughout, and racing keenly, so I thought she done very well to be beaten just over a length into third. That looked quite a competitive handicap that day so to go close having done so much wrong was a very fair performance.
When you consider that was her first run for four months then it is easy to imagine significant improvement coming on next start. I thought she would be a great bet in a handicap from her mark of 72, but connections have found her a very winnable looking opportunity in a novice. She receives almost two stone in weight from main market rival Nigel Nott, and whilst he looked a fair performer in winning last time that weight concession makes things a lot tougher.
The other potential threat would be the sole newcomer in the field for connections that do well at the track, I’m happy to oppose that one though so long as she doesn’t see significant market support. All in all I think Dana Forever is a very fair bet and I expect to see her shed the maiden tag here.
I think it is very interesting that connections have kept Princess Yaiza in training, as already a group 2 winner she would be a valuable broodmare prospect.
This is a mare that has clearly had issues as she resumes here following 454 days off, but clearly it is felt she has more to give on the track. To justify that then really on return she needs to be going very close, as whilst against smart performers here, she is very favourably weighted in this event.
Dundalk is a track the selection is already proven over, having scored here twice previously, and I would expect her to be pretty fit on return. At 6/4 therefore then she is very easy to fancy, as I think she could easily be an odds on shot amongst this field, and ultimately I would be very disappointed were she beaten.
The 6:15 does not look the strongest of races, and for me the interesting runner is Been Bobbied, who makes handicap debut. He looks to have been handed a fair mark of just 56, and I think he could easily step forward significantly now having been campaigned with handicaps in mind.
Having run the last twice at six furlongs and looked perhaps a little lacking in pace then he should enjoy this step back up in trip, and he runs for a very much in form yard. He has a lovely racing weight, and I hope to see Paul Hanagan bury him out the back and bring him through for a late run.
Of the field it would be Slingshot that I would see as the main danger, she has a progressive profile and will certainly win races in time. Hopefully that is not here though! At 7/1 I think Been Bobbied is a nice bet, and I would not be surprised to see the market move for him here either.
