GLORIOUS GOODWOOD TV TIPS – ITV RACING SELECTIONS

1:45 Goodwood – Unibet You’re On Goodwood Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 2m4½f

TRUE DESTINY has proven a progressive stayer since undergoing wind surgery, winning three of his seven starts last term and finishing a good third in this race twelve months ago behind Timoshenko.

Roger Charlton’s Mastercraftsman gelding has returned this term in good form, making the frame in starts at Kempton and Newbury where he’s been beaten a head and one length respectively.

The last of those came in the Marsh Cup behind Reshoun and due to go up 2lbs in the weights he’s well-treated on these terms if able to reproduce that level and if he does then he ought to go close.

With ability to handle this track another plus, he’s taken to get back to winning ways assuming this doesn’t come too soon just ten days on from his last outing.

2:15 Goodwood – Unibet 3 Boosts A Day Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m4f

ENCIPHER found the test of the Dante Stakes too much when last seen, but now tried handicapping John Gosden’s charge could bounce back to winning form.

The Siyouni colt struck at Newbury last July, beating Native Tribe, and he shaped well on his return back at the Berkshire venue last month with a neck defeat behind Al Madhar prior to his York outing where along with that rival neither could make their presence felt.

Switching to the handicap ranks he could be fairly weighted from an initial mark of 98 and he’s worth another chance to resume his earlier progress.

John Gosden can saddle another winner for our Glorious Goodwood tips.

2:45 Goodwood – Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f

SARDINIA SUNSET found some improvement to get off the mark at the third attempt, scoring in a Listed contest at York earlier in the month where the Gutaifan filly overcame trouble in running to beat Furlong Factor by one length.

Roger Varian’s charge had run well in defeat prior to that breakthrough, finishing a very good fourth in the Queen Mary Stakes the time before and there’s surely better still to come from her.

She gets 3lbs from all but one rival in this field and that weight concession could prove a significant advantage in this competitive Group Three; she can step up again to make her presence felt here and no surprise if she goes close again.

3:15 Goodwood – Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m

This could prove the race of the week but KAMEKO is taken to get back on the scoresheet having failed to see out the trip in the Epsom Derby and Andrew Balding’s Qipco 2000 Guineas hero can bounce back over a more suitable trip.

The Kitten’s Joy colt won two of his four starts last term including in the Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster; he then looked strong at the finish of the colts’ first Classic of the season, beating Wichita and Pinatubo, both of whom have done little harm to the form.

He finished six lengths’ fourth at Epsom in the Derby behind Serpentine but looked stretched by the trip; he toughed out a very respectable finish though and there’s surely more in his locker back over this shorter trip.

A tactical race wouldn’t suit, but if coming back to his best then he can go close and every chance he can resume winning ways although a flatter track might prove more to his liking. Nevertheless, he can make his presence felt and he should be in the shake-up.

Sussex Stakes tips. Kameko can bounce back to winning ways in Goodwood's Wednesday feature.

3:45 Goodwood – British Stallion Studs Alice Keppel EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (Plus 10/GBB Race) Cl2 (2yo) 5f

SPRIGHT built on a very promise debut runner-up finish to get off the mark at York earlier in the month, beating Positive Mentality by an impressive five lengths; Karl Burke’s charge can take another forward step with the drop to five furlongs unlikely to present a problem for the Charm Spirit filly.

She made all the running on the Knavesmire, powering clear for an eye-catching success, proving her debut run where she had been sent off 50/1 to be no fluke; that form has largely stood up and she’s likely to continue to progress.

With plenty of speed to burn, she should appreciate this fast five furlongs and while this is a tougher assignment she takes in stepping up in class she can continue to find improvement and can strike again from the front.
