TRUE DESTINY (1.45 Goodwood, 2m4f handicap)
Loves a stamina test and finished third in this race last year. Run two good races this season, including when staying on really strongly over 2m at Newbury to finish third last time.
Step up to 2m4f holds no fears for this smart stayer and trainer Roger Charlton has been operating at a 25 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight with 67 per cent of his horses running to form during that time. Could be a cracking each-way bet at around.
SARVAN (2.15 Goodwood, 1m4f handicap)
Seven last-time-out winners among this field of 11 three-year-olds and a host of potential improvers on show.
We’re going to take a chance on a bit of an outsider in the shape of Sarvan, who was an impressive winner of a Pontefract maiden over 1m2f last time.
Beat an odds-on shot trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore on that occasion and the pair pulled 12 lengths clear of the third, which suggested they are both above-average performers.
Leading jockey Ben Curtis has been booked for the ride.
MOHAATHER (3.15 Goodwood, 1m Group 1)
At least four top-class performers in Siskin, Circus Maximus, Kameko and Mohaather take part in the Sussex Stakes and we are set for a vintage renewal of one of Flat racing’s showpiece races.
Siskin ,may be unbeaten but his form is still nowhere near as strong as some of the others and Mohaather could well be the one to concentrate on here.
He looked a surefire future Group 1 winner when destroying his rivals in the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot last time and had earlier been unlucky in running behind Circus Maximus in the Queen Anne.
MAGICAL WISH (4.20 Goodwood, 7f handicap)
An inside draw can be a huge bonus at this track over this distance and Magical Wish has been handed stall 2, which is a positive.
Has looked out of form in his last three runs after winning at Lingfield in March but caught the eye at York last time when missing the start and travelling well before getting no luck in running a couple of furlongs from home.
Will again need the breaks to occur at the right time but trainer Richard Hannon has struck form in the last week or so and this horse is overpriced.
