Brian Healy looks ahead to this week’s UK and Irish horse racing schedule and details the week’s action over the next seven days.

After some cracking horse racing action at Newmarket and Chepstow last week with the start of the jumps season at the Welsh venue, this week’s fixture list is spearheaded by Qipco Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday.

Other features of the week include Listed action through the week, and the Welsh Champion Hurdle on Saturday at Ffos Las.

MONDAY 14 OCTOBER

The week kicks off with a five-fixture schedule of UK and Irish racemeetings which include afternoon flat racing from Musselburgh, Windsor and Yarmouth; while Gowran Park in Ireland also race on the level.

Meanwhile, completing Monday’s fixture list is an all-weather fixture on the tapeta at Wolverhampton.

There is also flat racing action from Catterick and also Leopardstown on Saturday; while the afternoon’s jumps racing comes from Ffos Las where it is Welsh Champion Hurdle day; as well as Stratford and Market Rasen.

Completing Saturday’s fixture list is an evening all-weather meeting on the Wolverhampton tapeta.
