International insights – Three horses to back at Gulfstream and Aqueduct this evening

International racing expert, Graham Rossiter looks through this evening’s cards at Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct and highlights three runners worth backing.

One winner ensured a small profit last week and below are my three best bets for Saturday evening’s Stateside action.

7.54 Gulfstream Park West – MISS ALIPHANT

This 4yo filly runs here on the back of a solid performance when finishing 2nd in a claiming event at Laurel Park. That was her first run after a 60 day layoff and improvement is expected. While her modest strike-rate is a slight worry, Miss Aliphant doesn’t need to improve much on her summer form to play a big part here and is a confident selection under the in-form Paco Lopez.

8.20 Aqueduct – SHADOLAMO

A chance is taken on the Chris Englehart trained Shadolamo in this valuable Juvenile Stakes event. It was only a modest maiden at Finger Lakes that the Girolamo filly won on her latest start and admittedly she has plenty to find with the principles on this occasion.

However, it was a performance brimming with style and it wouldn’t surprise if she were to handle this step up in grade. Her trainer boasts a 24% strike rate at Aqueduct and it is interesting he pitches her straight into Stakes class just 14 days after her impressive maiden win.

8.54 Gulfstream Park West – BETTER YET

Ron Potts looks to have found the consistent Better Yet another winning opportunity here. Successful at Presque Isle Downs in late August showing a good attitude, the 3yo filly has held her form well since and looks certain to go close in this modest claimer.
