IRISH HORSE RACING BEST BETS – LEOPARDSTOWN TIPS ON THURSDAY 10 JUNE
4:15 Leopardstown – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (2yo) 7f
PIMLICO shaped really nicely on his debut at Naas last month despite not looking totally at ease on the soft ground and Aidan O’Brien’s charge can progress for that run to get off the mark here at the second attempt.
The No Nay Never colt was beaten just over two lengths on that first outing behind Freedom Of Speech, slowly away and taking some time for the penny to drop. Once it did though he ran on well and there’s sure to be improvement to come from him on the back of that performance.
That form doesn’t look too bad and he might show up better now faced with a quicker surface so there’d be little surprise in seeing him progress on the back of that promising debut run for his top yard.
4:50 Leopardstown – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies & Mares Maiden (3yo+) 7f
SPILT PASSION showed some steadily progressive form in maidens on the all-weather in the last months of 2020, making the frame on all four starts and the Fascinating Rock filly may have needed the run when finishing fourth at Gowran Park last month on her turf and seasonal debut.
Ger Lyons’ charge was also encountering soft ground which might not have been ideal; but she ran well in defeat to finish around six lengths’ fourth behind Holly Golightly and that form took a small boost when the winner subsequently went close in a valuable handicap next time while the runner-up ran a very solid sixth in the Irish 1000 Guineas.
There could be more to come from her with that run under her belt and likely to progress she can step up on her reappearance to go close here for her shrewd yard.
5:50 Leopardstown – Ballycorus Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+) 7f
SNAPRAETEREA probably found the step up in trip too much of a test in heavy ground at Curragh last month but the Buratino colt can do better here returned to a more suitable distance on quicker ground and Joseph O’Brien’s charge could go well here.
He had been in good form last term, winning twice before tackling a trio of Group Two contests where he made the frame in both the Futurity Stakes and the Beresford Stakes before running a shade below his best at Naas which might have been him going to the well once too often in a busy campaign.
He took a little time to hit his stride this term but he got back on the winning trail in a Naas Listed contest from Lustown Baba prior to his latest outing where he finished third and he can do better here faced with a less searching stamina test.
7:20 Leopardstown – Leopardstown Handicap (3yo+ 45-65) 1m1f
It might be worth chancing KNOCK FLYER who was a shade unlucky when last seen finishing third at Naas back in April on his seasonal debut and the Lilbourne Lad gelding could post a big run here if granted a bit more luck.
D J Barry’s charge is yet to get his head in front after 14 starts and he was making the frame for just the second time in his career when beaten just a half-length latest on his return from almost five months off behind Hidden Spark.
He was very slow away from the gates on that occasion, but he ran on well through beaten horses and despite being denied a clear run he finished off quite strongly in what was an eye-catching run.
While the form perhaps isn’t particularly strong a repeat of that effort with a little more luck in running ought to see him in the mix again from just 2lbs higher and he could shed his maiden tag here for all this is a competitive looking heat.
