Irish horse racing best bets – Wednesday tips for Wexford

Wednesday tips for Wexford on 10 March

Just one meeting heads to post on Wednesday in Ireland over the sticks and we’ve picked out our Wednesday tips for Wexford.

There is just one sole fixture taking place in Ireland on Wednesday with a fixture over the sticks at Wexford where seven races will go to post.

With the Cheltenham Festival just a few days away we won’t see any big stars in attendance but we’ve looked over the card to pick out our Wednesday tips for Wexford.

1:50 Wexford – Wexford Mares Maiden Hurdle (4yo+) 2m

DREAMINGANDHOPING is chanced to get off the mark for her in-form yard and he Shirocco mare could prove a tough nut to crack if turning out here at her best.

A bumper winner at Punchestown last term and not disgraced in a Grade Two bumper at Leopardstown last February she’s hinted at some ability over hurdles, finishing third to Carigeen Lotus on her hurdling debut at Galway before possibly failing to see out the longer trip the next twice.

Back from a short break and returned to two miles Declan Queally’s charge finished a creditable third behind Gentleman De Mee at Naas last month and a repeat of that outing might be good enough to see her open her account over timber.

2:55 Wexford – M2 Construction, Wexford Novice Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-109) 2m

SILK WORM has finished runner-up on each of her last two starts and Elizabeth Doyle’s charge might be able to go one better here.

The Fame And Glory mare won a Tramore bumper a couple of seasons ago and while she’s since found winning difficult over hurdles she’s been largely consistent in defeat with a number of efforts in the frame.

Her latest outing saw her finish five lengths’ second behind Fighting Fit at Thurles last month and she’s only been raised 1lb for that effort so can remain competitive and no surprise to see her in the mix again.

3:25 Wexford – Micheal O’Murchadha Memorial Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m

FEELGOOD ISLAND is a lightly-raced sort over hurdles and Elizabeth Doyle’s charge can get back on the winning trail here.

The No Risk At All gelding was a ready winner over Vintage Prosecco at Down Royal back in December, bouncing back from an earlier fall and there wasn’t much wrong with his latest third behind You Raised Me Up at Naas last month where he was beaten around four lengths.

He possibly just did too much in front over the longer trip which may have stretched him, but that form looks fair and he drops back to the minimum trip for this outing which ought to suit. Now making his handicap debut he could be fairly treated off this mark and with the potential for better still he can get back to winning ways.

4:35 Wexford – Tomcoole Farm Ltd. Beginners Chase (5yo+) 3m1f

DEFI BLEU’s form figures might not make for confident reading but Diane Foster’s charge can get off the mark here.

A smart hurdler who contested at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival over hurdles he was absent for more than a year before finishing a good third behind Blackbow on his reappearance at Navan in November and he’s faced some tough tasks since in the face of that promising effort.

He can be forgiven his last run at Naas last month where he failed to beat a rival as that outing came in a significantly stronger race than this and he might have dented his confidence with an early mistake.

He perhaps has a bit to prove at present, but if he could come back to the sort of form he showed on his chase debut then he could go close here with the longer trip a possible source of improvement for the Saddler Maker gelding.
