IRISH HORSE RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT GOWRAN PARK & BALLINROBE
2:35 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden (Plus 10 Race) (3yo+) 1m
NEW YORK ANGEL contested what could be a pretty decent maiden contest on her debut at Naas back in March, finding only one too good in Empress Josephine; but she was green there and ought to improve for the run where she can go one better this time.
Although the winner failed to make an impact in a Group Three next time both the fifth and sixth horses home have done well since with the latter scoring next time out. Johnny Murtagh’s charge beat both comfortably having travelled well into the race and she stayed on well to nab second.
She should come on for that effort and with the yard in form she might be capable of going one better here.
3:10 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap (4yo+) 1m
MK DRAMA has run well on both her starts at this track, winning over the distance back in October before finishing a creditable third in his bid to follow up at the Curragh in November.
Paul Flynn’s charge made a good reappearance on the back of more than four months off when crossing the line in third again back at the Curragh in March and the Lope De Vega mare can continue to remain competitive with that run likely to bring her on.
While the ground will be less testing than recent outings she should cope fine and Siobhan Routledge takes off a handy 7lbs so with proven course form she could be the one to side with given her current spell of form.
5:40 Ballinrobe – Join tote.ie Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 2m5½f
CHAMPAGNE SPARKLES brings arguably the best form to the table here and Denise Foster’s charge can shed his maiden tag at the fourth attempt over obstacles.
The Masked Marvel gelding has been sent off favourite the last twice, finding only one too good at Limerick in March and he filled the same spot next time out at Fairyhouse where he was closing on the winner having been outpaced.
This extra furlong could suit and Jordan Gainford’s valuable 7lbs allowance will certainly come in handy; there’s a race to be won with him and this doesn’t look quite as strong a race as last time so he can notch a breakthrough win here.
6:40 Ballinrobe – Wish You Were Here Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+ 80-95) 2m5½f
DIFFERENT BEAT got off the mark over this course last month on just her second start for Gavin Cromwell and the Beat Hollow mare looks capable of following up.
Having struggled in maiden company for her previous handler she has improved for the application of a tongue-tie since going handicapping, running well at Thurles on her debut for this yard before making the winning breakthrough with a neck defeat of Shantou Warrior at this venue.
That runner-up did little harm to the form next time out and a 6lbs rise in the ratings might underestimate her potential for improvement now she’s a winner; while this longer trip ought to suit on the evidence of that run and she can step up again where she can register another victory.
