Irish Horse Racing Tips – Tuesday, August 23

The action in Ireland on Tuesday comes from Bellewstown, which hosts a seven-race Jumps card. Our Irish horse racing expert has identified his top bets on the day which you can check out below.

Park Hind (6.15 Bellewstown) 12/1

The Reddans Of Bettystown Handicap Hurdle can go to PARK HIND.

Andrew Lynch’s 5yo comes into this race an 11-race maiden under rules, but she came very close to attesting to that when a 16/1 runner-up at Ballinrobe on penultimate run, only run down in the shadows of the post.

Park Hind was once again only caught late when third at Downpatrick just over a fortnight ago. Both of those outings came over around 2m6f, and on that evidence Park Hind is going to appreciate dropping back slightly to this 2m4f trip.

A mark of 99 looks well within Park Hind’s reach, and she remains open to improvement in cheekpieces with this just her second start in the headgear.

Lieutenant Highway (6.45 Bellewstown) 6/4

It is difficult to oppose the upwardly mobile LIEUTENANT HIGHWAY in this year’s Bective Stud Mullacurry Cup Handicap Hurdle.

This son of Fame And Glory has now won his last three starts, backing up a Clonmel maiden hurdle success with novice victories at Downpatrick and Ballinrobe the last twice.

Lieutenant Highway was incredibly impressive last time out and although he’s gone up 8lb now switched to handicaps for the first time, the pick of his form from last season suggests that this rating of 119 is still well within his reach, particularly given that he’s unlikely to have stopped improving just yet.

Irish Horse Racing Tips. Gordon Elliott can land Bellewstown's Mullacurry Cup with Lieutenant Highway.

Golden Sandbanks (7.15 Bellewstown) 13/8

The best bet on Bellewstown’s Tuesday card comes in the John Purfield Memorial Handicap Hurdle where GOLDEN SANDBANKS is tough to oppose.

Paul Flynn’s gelding was 0-21 before landing a handicap hurdle at Limerick last month, and he supplemented that with a victory on his chase debut at Tramore last week.

Golden Sandbanks is just a pound higher switched to the smaller obstacles today, and Danny Mullins, who is operating at over a 40% strike rate in the last fortnight, keeps the partnership intact. In his current mood, Golden Sandbanks should be tough to stop from bringing up the hat-trick.
