Irish Horse Racing Tips – Best Bets on the Friday Cards at Tipperary and Wexford
Irish Horse Racing Tips – Friday, August 5
The main action in Ireland on Friday comes from Tipperary, which hosts a seven-race Flat card. As well as this, Wexford provides us with a competitive seven-race Jumps card. Our Irish horse racing expert has identified his top bets on the day which you can check out below.
Erosandpsyche (5.35 Tipperary) 8/11
Preference in the Botanica International Race at Tipperary goes to EROSANDPSYCHE, who was twice a course and distance winner for Kieran Cotter last season.
He’s run to a good level in all three starts since joining Paddy Twomey, deservedly getting off the mark for this stable when justifying favouritism in the Doneraile Handicap at Cork a fortnight ago.
That looked like a performance worth upgrading as Erosandpsyche raced solo on the far side of the track. He may have only narrowly finished ahead of the reopposing Moss Tucker, but he actually meets that rival on 3lb better terms here so looks like good value to confirm the form.
There seems a fair chance that we’re yet to see the best of Erosandpsyche given that this will be just his fourth start for the Twomey yard, and this looks like a good bit of placing given that he clearly enjoyed racing at this track last season.

Dicebox (5.50 Wexford) 9/1
The best bet on Wexford’s Friday card comes in the Think Print & Design Handicap Hurdle, where DICEBOX can get back to winning ways for recent Galway Plate-winning trainer Shark Hanlon.
This 5yo was a Killarney bumper winner around this time last year, and although he cut little ice in a trio of subsequent hurdles starts, he caught the eye when sixth on handicap debut at Limerick last month.
Dicebox travelled through that race like a horse ahead of his mark, and he was just a little short of room once the pace quickened, dragging his back legs through the second last hurdle also doing him no favours.
That considered, Dicebox did well to finish just over 11l off the leader.
He runs off the same mark of 93 here, with Jordan Gainford now entrusted with the ride. Dicebox is just the third foal out of Cesarewitch winner Scatter Dice, and that suggests he’ll, if anything, improve for this step up to 3m for the first time.
With the good ground also in his favour, he’s well worth chancing.

Derry Lad (8.25 Tipperary) 9/2
Aine O’Connor has taken the GAIN The Advantage Series (Ladies) Handicap twice in the last three seasons, and that makes Sequoiaspirit, a recent hurdles second, of interest.
The vote instead goes to DERRY LAD though, who is less exposed than most of these and arrives right at the top of his game.
Getting up late to land an extended 1m2f Sligo handicap in May, Derry Lad has since gone on to run with credit in defeat upped in trip, finishing well for third in the Ladies Derby at the Curragh last time.
He’s gone up a pound for that, but Annalise Cullen removes 7lb here and she showcased her talent in the saddle with a close second at the Galway Festival last week. These claiming rider races can often be run at a decent clip, and if that is the case here, it should set up nicely for Derry Lad late on.
