IRISH RACING BEST BETS – FRIDAY TIPS AT FAIRYHOUSE & DUNDALK
3:15 Fairyhouse – Fairyhouse Easter Gift Box Mares Maiden Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+) 2m4f
ANNIEGUIRE hasn’t shown much in two runs over hurdles to date, beaten a long way when last seen out here in January but the Jeremy mare could do better with the drying ground perhaps proving more to her liking.
Gordon Elliott’s charge found only one too good in a point-to-point when when Donnchadh Doyle before some glimpses of ability in bumpers. She may have been amiss last time out given the way she weakened in the race to finish tailed off but returning from a break she could improve and this isn’t a strong race by any means.
If she were able to show the ability she had hinted at in bumpers over these obstacles then she could yet come good for a yard in decent form.
4:50 Fairyhouse – Easter Festival 3rd – 5th April Handicap Hurdle (Div I) (4yo+ 80-95) 2m4f
GET PHAR has come up against some useful rivals thus far in his four hurdles starts and the Getaway gelding can continue to show progress where he could get off the mark here.
Eoin Griffin’s charge stepped up on previous efforts when switched to handicapping at Naas last month, finishing five lengths’ seventh behind Fou Diligence although he might have finished closer but for making a mistake at the final obstacle.
This stiffer test could bring about some improvement while the services of a 7lb claimer can ease his burden at the weights. Open to progress he could go well here in what looks a relatively ordinary contest.
6:30 Dundalk – Hollywoodbets Racing & Sports Betting Handicap (4yo+ 45-70) 1m4f
NIGHTLY WAILING has the worst of the draw here but the Vocalised gelding could be worth chancing to get back on the scoreboard.
Thomas Cleary’s charge was a winner over two miles here in November and since returning from a couple of months’ break he has finished third here over this trip, latterly beaten only one length by Everyhouronthehour where he was hampered late on.
He’s not so well treated here as last time but Rory Cleary takes over from a 7lbs claimer and stronger handling this time around might see him finish closer in this latest outing.
7:30 Dundalk – Hollywoodbets Patton Stakes (Listed Race) (3yo) 1m
MESSIDOR has looked a promising sort in her four runs to date, winning two of them and the Vadamos filly can land the hat-trick here.
Those two wins have come at this track towards the end of last year although both were over seven furlongs; but this step up to a mile ought to suit and she remains open to further improvement back from three months off.
She won readily when last seen and there’s like better to come from Joseph O’Brien’s runner – one of three in the race – with Declan McDonagh preferring her over the yard’s other participants. Both her victims in her two wins had both won previously and while this is a step up in class she can handle the higher grade and collect her three-timer.
