IRISH RACING BEST BETS – GOWRAN PARK SATURDAY RACING TIPS
1:40 Gowran Park – Irish EBF Auction Series Fillies’ Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 7f
DUVET DAY showed plenty on her debut at Limerick last month when chasing home Snapius, going down by only a head and with that experience under her belt Jessica Harrington’s charge can go one better.
The Starspangledbanner filly was slow to leave the gates and ran green early, appearing to run in snatches before the penny dropped and finishing off the race well.
She can improve with that experience gained and this slightly longer trip could see her take a forward step where she can open her account at the second attempt.
2:15 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Maiden (3yo+) 7f
GIVE HER A SQUEEZE is still a maiden after seven races but Bill McCreery’s charge has shown enough to suggest she can win races and the Kodiac filly can strike here to get off the mark.
Runner-up at Bellewstown earlier in the month when beaten three lengths by Friendly she took a backward step latest at the Curragh when beating only one home. That form took a boost when the winner went in again on Thursday although the way she folded tamely is a slight worry quickly turned out.
She is capable of going well here if none the worse for that last run and could be worth chancing to bounce back assuming all is well.
3:25 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Handicap (3yo+) 1m
FICTICIOUS LADY has yet to get off the mark but she’s run a number of good races in defeat and this could be the day the Make Believe filly breaks her duck.
Bill McCreery’s charge has made the frame in three of her last four starts, bouncing back from a lesser run in soft ground over a shorter trip at Listowel to find only one too good at Killarney latest behind Disco Boots where she was beaten just one length.
She only gave way late on that occasion having made most of the running and she can give another good account of herself stepping back into a handicap. While she is 0-11 so far it is hard to knock her consistency and no surprise if she were involved again here.
4:00 Gowran Park – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Race (3yo+) 1m1½f
Debut winner ACANELLA could be worth sticking with despite a lesser run last time out and the Killarney filly can do better.
That last run came in a Listed contest where she finished down the field behind Mehnah and the reopposing Let’s; but she may have been given too much to do on that occasion and this looks more suitable.
Ger Lyons’ charge has a 2lbs pull in her favour with reopposing Let’s who finished ahead of her last time despite being rated 5lb better in the official rankings; while Sam Ewing takes over and his 5lbs claim adds further strength to her claims of a return to winning ways.
She likely won’t want this to get too tactical and a strong pace will certainly help her if she gets one and she could bounce back here with a better effort.
