IRISH RACING BEST BETS – THURLES TIPS ON THURSDAY OVER THE STICKS
12:10 Thurles – Thurles Beginners Chase (4yo+) 2m2f
PRETTY LITTLE LIAR won for this column last month when the Excellent Art mare struck at Fairyhouse and David Dunne’s charge could be worth sticking with to repeat the dose here.
She had been in good and consistent form previously, reeling off a trio of runner-up efforts over hurdles and now tackling fences for the first time she could be capable of delivering another big run under her top claiming rider assuming she takes to these obstacles.
1:20 Thurles – Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle (4yo+) 2m
BETH HORAN is interesting on her comeback from almost 600 days off the track and the Yeats mare can make a winning reappearance.
Gordon Elliott’s charge had shown some solid form earlier in her career in bumpers where she made the frame several times, but she hasn’t been seen since crossing the line in fourth behind Delvino at Down Royal last March.
Connections have persevered with her however which is noetworthy ahead of her belated return for an in-form yard and if fully wound up she ought to go close here.
1:50 Thurles – Two-Mile Borris Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-95) 2m
FAIR MINDED posted her best effort for a while when finding only one too good at Galway last month, running on well from an unpromising position and if the Flemensfirth mare can build on that run then she could go one better here.
She did win at Galway last October from just 3lbs lower than this current rating and while she’s no certainty to be in the same vein of form given her earlier record is quite patchy she ought to give a good account if arriving here with her best form.
2:55 Thurles – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 2m7f
INGENIOUS STROKE shaped well on his first try over timber when finishing fourth at Galway last month and with that experience under his belt Henry De Bromhead’s charge can get off the mark at the second attempt.
The Jet Away gelding had won between the flags for Rose Connors prior to joining his current yard and he was far from disgraced in that first hurdles start despite being beaten a fair distance.
This longer trip ought to suit and can unlock some more improvement so there’d be no surprise in seeing him firmly in the mix.
