IRISH RACING TIPS ON FRIDAY – BEST BETS AT GOWRAN PARK & DUNDALK
2:38 Gowran Park – BetVictor Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 2m
THE GREEK has shown enough over hurdles already to suggest he’s well up to winning races and the Leading Light gelding can get off the mark here at the sixth attempt.
He showed up well in a couple of bumpers prior to making the frame on all five starts to date over obstacles, latterly returning from a break to finish fifth behind Serenity Grove at Downpatrick although he was no match for the winner on that occasion.
The third horse in that race has ran well since to finish runner-up on his next start and the application of a tongue-tie for this latest outing might well elicit some improvement and he should strip fitter for that recent return so he might be able to open his account now back at the minimum trip.
4:23 Gowran Park – Golf @ Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m4f
GUIRI had shown some ability over hurdles prior to getting off the mark at Punchestown in April and the Motivator gelding can get back on the scoresheet here.
Jessica Harrington’s charge ran out a four lengths’ winner that day over Low Lie The Fields, travelling well in first-time cheekpieces to run out a ready winner although that form hasn’t stood up too well since.
Only sixth at Galway when last sighted that was nevertheless a better run in a stronger race and returning from a couple of months off back in easier company he should be capable of a big run here.
5:15 Dundalk – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Legacy Stakes (Listed Race) (2yo) 5f
LADIES CHURCH is given another chance and ran well in defeat behind the progressive Sacred Bridge when finishing third to that one in the recent Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh and Johnny Murtagh’s charge can get back on the winning trail here.
The Churchill filly had won her two previous outings, scoring in a Tipperary maiden prior to going in in a Listed contest next time at Naas where she ran out an easy winner from Pennine Hills.
Six furlongs might just have stretched her last time and back at the minimum trip on her first try on polytrack with the application of a hood for the first time could all be positive factors in seeing her resume her earlier progression and she looks to hold solid claims here.
6:45 Dundalk – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Star Appeal Stakes (Listed Race) (2yo) 7f
A chance is taken with SNAFFLES who stepped up on a promising debut effort to run out a ready winner of a Down Royal maiden last month and the Churchill colt can continue to improve and take this Listed prize.
Joseph O’Brien’s charge had finished a good fifth on debut behind Tut Tut at Leopardstown, running on well having met with trouble in running and the winner, third and fourth horses home have all won since.
He stepped up on that to post an easy success over Nawraq and the reopposing Gaire Os Ard on his next outing where he looked a smart prospect with more to offer. This is a step up in class but he’s going the right way and still unexposed so a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise now tried at this level if handling this surface.
