IRISH RACING TIPS ON SUNDAY – BEST BETS AT TRAMORE & LIMERICK
1:35 Limerick – Dooradoyle Handicap (3yo+ 50-80) 7f
MAGIC CAROUSEL us yet to get off the mark but the Zebedee filly has shown enough to suggest she can pick up a race and there was no shame in her latest third at the Curragh back in May where she was racing from out of the weights in being beaten three lengths by Create Belief.
She had been beaten just one length into fourth the time before on her return from almost 200 days off and the form of that last run has been franked with both the winner and fourth going in since.
With only a 3lbs rise in the weights to contend with here she could have more to offer and assuming the quicker ground doesn’t prove a hindrance then there would be no surprise in seeing her firmly in the mix.
1:55 Tramore – TramoreRaces.ie Handicap Chase (4yo+) 2m
SHE TOPS THE LOT won twice last term over hurdles, scoring victories at Roscommon and Bellewstown and Henry De Bromhead’s can open her account over fences at the third attempt.
The Yeats mare has taken well to chasing this campaign, finding the frame on both starts at Ballinrobe and Tramore latterly behind Robbinia where she ran better than the result when finishing in the runner-up spot having been hampered two out and then running on although her chance was gone with that interference.
She now switches to handicapping where she could improve and her opening mark of 109 looks fair so there might be more to come from her and she can land a first success over fences here.
2:10 Limerick – Raheen Maiden (3yo+) 1m
BASEMAN showed plenty on debut last September when beaten just a head by Toshizou and may have found heavy ground against him next time at the Curragh; Dermot Weld’s charge however bounced back with a much better effort at Gowran Park following more than seven months off the track last month.
The Kingman colt was tried in blinkers for the first time on that occasion and wasn’t best positioned in the race, but he still ran creditably in defeat and he ought to come on for that run which will have sharpened him up.
He doesn’t have the best of the draw here but he’s surely capable of better and likely to improve on the back of his recent reappearance he can go well here where he can get off the mark.
3:20 Limerick – Annacotty Rated Race (3yo+) 1m
Lightly-raced BELMONT AVENUE might be the one to go with here having won on his reappearance at Dundalk in April and Joseph O’Brien’s charge can improve on that victory back on turf.
The Zoffany colt had posted fair runs in defeat lat term, finishing runner-up at Cork before posting a solid seventh to the useful Santa Barbara at the Curragh next time prior to a seven-month break and he returned to see off Golden Lyric by two lengths.
That form has taken a few knocks but there could be more to come from him after just three starts and he ought to improve so there’d be no surprise in seeing him going well here and he can follow up that recent victory.
3:40 Tramore – Register For August 14th Style Evening At TramoreRaces.ie Rated Novice Hurdle (4yo+) 2m
SCHONE AUSSICHT is going the right way over hurdles and the Pastorius mare arrives here on a hat-trick following wins at Limerick and Downpatrick.
Henry De Bromhead’s charge was impressive when last successful and won much easier than the official winning margin might suggest that it was a close result when posting a three-parts of a length win over Clonbury Bridge as his rider was able to ease down late and the front pair were almost ten lengths clear of the rest.
This is a stronger race but there’s likely better to come from her and she looks worth chancing to step up her form again and land her three-timer here under her good 7lbs claimer.
