THURSDAY TV TIPS FOR DONCASTER – ITV RACING BEST BETS
1:40 Doncaster – British Stallion Studs EBF “Carrie Red” Fillies’ Nursery Handicap Cl2 (2yo) 6½f
SKY ANGEL is showing race-by-race progress, bettering her finishing position each time and latterly returning from a short break to find only one too good at Newmarket behind Great Vibes where the Dark Angel filly was beaten a half-length.
Charlie Appleby’s charge was only run down close home that day with the front two pulling a couple of lengths clear of the rest. Two of those who finished further back have won since to give that form a boost and the Godolphin runner switches now to the handicap ranks where an initial mark of 81 could prove lenient.
A slight drop in trip to this extended six furlongs could suit in what is likely to be a strongly-run contest and open still to further improvement she can make her presence felt.
2:10 Doncaster – bet365 May Hill Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 1m
Some really nice prospects take on this Group Two prize, perhaps none more so than INDIGO GIRL who looked potentially high class when making a winning debut at Yarmouth eleven days ago, readily scoring having travelled strongly into the contest before quickening up nicely for the win.
John Gosden often introduced a nice sort at that seaside venue and the Dubawi filly easily brushed aside any inexperience to beat Final Thought by three lengths with the rest well beaten and there’s likely plenty more to come from her on the back of that outing.
This is a big step up in class but her top yard rarely overfaces their runners so her presence at this level suggests she has plenty of potential and if she can build on that debut experience then she could double up here.
2:40 Doncaster – Weatherbys Racing Bank £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes Cl2 (2yo) 6½f
With a couple of front-runners in the field this could be run at a decent pace which would suit COLLINSBAY who travelled well off a strong pace at Ascot in July to finish runner-up behind Star Cactus and Richard Hannon’s charge can improve again.
Only beaten a head on that occasion the Cable Bay colt was only run down late having thrown away his change by hanging right throughout the last furlong, looking a tricky ride. That form looks fairly solid with good subsequent runs by the winner, third and fourth and there may be more in the locker still to come following a short break.
Although he is still a maiden after three runs, he has shown enough to suggest he can win races and every chance he can make his presence felt again with a big run in this contest.
3:15 Doncaster – bet365 Park Hill Fillies’ Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m6½f
ALPINISTA faced a very tall order against Love in the recent Yorkshire Oaks, but Sir Mark Prescott’s charge did her reputation no harm in finishing runner-up to Aidan O’Brien’s star and she can quickly get back on track here.
The Frankel filly raced three times as a juvenile, winning her debut before taking in successive Group Three contests where she cut little ice. However, she has improved this term, finishing fourth in a French Listed contest before getting back on the scoresheet at Salisbury when running out an easy winner of the Upavon Stakes.
She had three lengths back to the winner and the form looks useful with the runner-up since placing again in Listed company while the fourth has made the frame in a Group Three; while she was no match for Love in her last outing, beaten five lengths, she was clear of the rest and a reproduction of that effort may be enough to see her resume winning ways here.
3:45 Doncaster – Price Promise At bet365 Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-100) 7f
The drop to seven furlongs could prove the making of EASTERN WORLD who ran better than the bare result when finishing three lengths’ fifth behind Brunch at York last month and Charlie Appleby’s charge can get back on the scoresheet.
A winner over one mile at Newmarket in June, beating Lawahed, he then got to within a half-length of a follow-up win back there in July prior to his last run which was the first time he had finished out of the first two places.
However he had travelled well for a long way in that contest before his effort petered out close home and this slightly shorter trip could well suit. First-time cheekpieces are also tried which may yield some more improvement and he can make his presence felt in this contest.
