The day’s racing in Ireland complements the five UK horse racing fixtures and we’ve looked over the action in Ireland to pick out our Killarney tips on Thursday.

5:10 Killarney – Bordeaux Racecourse Rated Race (3yo+) 1m

OVERHEER has been in good form of late, twice finishing up in starts back in May and going one better to register a brace of victories at Leopardstown and Gowran Park latterly under a penalty.

Joseph Murphy’s Heeraat gelding most recently beat Celtic Crown by just over one length in his latest outing, making all the running and holding on well; the runner-up along with the third and seventh horses home have all won since and a further 7lbs rise in the weights might not be enough of a burden to prevent a repeat effort if continuing in similar vein.

He’s been freshened up by a break and open to further improvement he ought to make his presence felt again here and he can land the hat-trick.

5:45 Killarney – M.D. O’Shea & Sons Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes (Listed Race) (3yo+) 1m

NEPTUNE ROCK struck at Leopardstown on her reappearance at Leopardstown back in June and while the Muhaarar filly hasn’t added to her tally in three subsequent outings she has been running well in defeat.

Runner-up next time at Limerick she wasn’t disgraced finishing fourth to Mehnah in the Cairn Rouge Stakes here in July where she met trouble in running and although only fifth latest in the Group Three Desmond Stakes she turned in another creditable performance on that occasion.

Back down in class here she can give a good account of herself and she remains open to progress so can be given another chance.

6:15 Killarney – Irish Examiner Handicap (Div I) (3yo+ 45-65) 1m

DARK DESIGN struck at Gowran Park in June when successful over Hidden Spark and Joseph Murphy’s charge arrives here having finished third over course and distance latest behind Crystal Pool where the Gutaiafan gelding might have been made too much use of.

Despite meeting with defeat that form looks fair in the context of this race and he coul be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet here from the same mark with Gary Carroll taking over in the saddle.

Given her current good spell of form she can find some more improvement and no surprise to see him firmly in the mix again this time.

7:15 Killarney – Laurels Pub & Restaurant Kingdom Gold Cup Handicap (Premier Handicap) (3yo+) 1m6f

WONDER LAISH won at this meeting twelve months ago on his last start on the flat and fit from a jumps campaign the Halling gelding can get back to winning ways here.

Charles Byrne’s charge has been lightly raced over hurdles since that victory last August and he arrives here on good terms having placed at Cork and won at Kilbeggan on his last two starts over timber, latterly running out a one length victor over Eclair De Beaufeu.

He did well there as he made a mistake two out and his rider dropped his whip, but the pair kept on well for the win and if he carries that good form back onto the flat then he can follow up in this sphere where he’s effectively 2lbs lower than when last successful on the level.
