Loader’s Daily Double – 8/1 double covering Ffos Las and Chelmsford
Thursday’s Daily Double
Chris Loader rolls his two best bets into his daily double, covering races at Ffos Las and Chelmsford on Thursday 30th January.
We knew our fate early on Wednesday when our opening selection Pistol Whipped was unseated at the first but thankfully Nico De Boinville and the horse were unscathed. I’m hoping Thursday can be our day after some frustrating near misses.

2.45 Ffos Las – Present Value
When you look through Present Value on breeding he oozes class being a half-brother to Paisley Park. He’s taken not too badly to fences so far with a second placed effort at Aintree behind Champagne Mystery and then he was slightly outpaced at Exeter. Therefore stepping up in trip to three miles looks a fair move and should suit from his pedigree. Furthermore this race is celebrating Evans Williams’ recent landmark of 1000 career winners. I think he will want to win the race named in his honour.
7.30 Chelmsford – Thai Terrier
Thai Terrier has been running well of late and often found in the dying strides but I’m hoping we can be third time lucky here. It looks like Mark Johnston has found a good opportunity and his recent performance at Southwell was really encouraging as the son of Kitten’s Joy was miles ahead of his rivals. With Johnston operating at 21% strike rate he’s my best bet on the card.
