13.10 Taunton – San Rumoldo
(Barry Geraghty/Alan King)
Barry Geraghty travels to Somerset for just the one ride at Taunton which comes on an interesting four-year-old. Alan King’s gelding won last season on debut in a bumper at Southwell which has some strong formlines. However he was a tad disappointing at Ascot on his seasonal reappearance but the way he travelled into the race suggested he needed the run. I think tomorrow he will come forward for that appearance and connections have found a good race for him to be competitive in. I think he has a good chance of going close.
2.40 Ffos Las – Special Princess
(Sean Bowen/Rebecca Curtis)
This mare won with a bit in hand on her stable debut for Rebecca Curtis at the course last time out. That victory came over three miles and I don’t think dropping down in trip is an issue. Also Sean Bowen is an eye catching jockey booking as he has a 50% strike rate when riding for Rebecca Curtis at Ffos Las. Off a mark of 84 I will very disappointed if she doesn’t win.
2.50 Taunton – Bang On
(Matt Griffiths/Jeremy Scott)
It was a very encouraging reappearance by the six-year-old on his last start. He has lots of course form from last season making the frame many times including a win here. Off a mark of 114 he still might have a bit of improvement in him this season. With Jeremy Scott’s team in good form I’m hoping he can be very competitive.
3.50 Taunton – Dan Gun
(Conor Brace/Fergal O’Brien)
This horse finally broke there maiden tag after winning on the 18th attempt. It seems Fergal O’Brien has found another good opportunity for him to win again in this race. Taunton is a track that can often favour strong travellers and he’s like to get an easy lead. With the stable operating at a 24% win rate in expecting a bold bid here.
