Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle Tips – plan looks like paying off for JP McManus
Martin Pipe Hurdle Tips
Daryl Carter (@DarylCarter7) gives the latest of his Cheltenham day 4 tips here as he runs the rule over the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle, one of the Cheltenham Festival’s toughest handicaps to solve
Irish raiders have dominated this contest in recent years so its no surprise the head of the market features plenty of those making their way across the Irish Sea. Let’s take a look at some of the key contenders.
Martin Pipe Hurdle Tips – Ready To Roll
ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN could be one of the plot jobs of the season. You only need to go back to watch his most recent run at Leopardstown to see the suspect ride he was given for a fifth-placed finish to keep his handicap mark down to 132.
His two wins at Galway last term have worked out well and one of those was over a trip to short. This rates a smart prospect and a clever move by connections to get him here off a mark this low and he has a massive chance. If you want to use one of your Cheltenham free bets on the closing race of the meeting, then this could be the horse for you
Ground Against this contender
EASYWORK has done all of his best work on heavy ground and is unlikely to get favoured conditions in this race, but he would rate a player none the less if the weather gods play to his tune. Others look better treated on Cheltenham Festival Day 4.
Hard To Boss This Field
THE BOSSES OSCAR looks fairly treated on this season’s exploits but his form has taken a few knocks, including when beaten last time by French Dynamite who was then thrashed next time out. There clearly is more to come from him and handicaps could prove to be his calling, but others are more convincing for trainer Gordon Elliott.
Not A Cracking Chance
CRACKING SMART was a useful novice hurdler in 2017 but lost his way before returning to form in a small-field Grade 2 event at Navan in February. An 8lb rise in the ratings may make life difficult back in this big-field handicap and he is not one to make your shortlist for Cheltenham day 4 tips.
Returning To Hurdles
CANARDIER’S connections came here with high hopes last season when fifth in the 2019 Coral Cup off a mark of 141 and will return to Cheltenham just 2lb higher should the british handicapper leave his mark of 143 untouched. This one-furlong shorter trip will be in his favour but his entry here comes after a failed chase campaign. He is not one to write off but needs to show much more than he has done in two starts this term.
Martin Pipe Hurdle Tips – Big-race Verdict
Ilikedwayurthinkin is the one to side with as he looks extremely well handicapped on what he has shown and looks a winner in waiting for this race.
