TIGHT CALL (2.50 Southwell, 2m4f handicap hurdle)
Fitness has to be taken on trust as he returns from a break of 187 days but he caught the eye last time when falling four from home when making good late headway from the rear at Ludlow in February.
Is down to a winnable mark and the only two victories in his 11-race career came with Richard Johnson aboard so it’s a positive that the former champion jockey is back in the saddle here.
HEAVENLY TALE (3.40 Ayr, 1m2f handicap)
Finished stone last on her debut for trainer Tristran Davidson after leaving Ralph Beckett at the end of last season.
That run was too bad to be true and she may have failed to appreciate the kickback in her face when behind horses at Newcastle on that occasion.
The interesting thing is she was backed into 5/1 for that race, which indicates she must have been showing a decent level of ability at home and she should be backed to confirm that promise.
TEL’ART (4.25 Southwell, 3m handicap hurdle)
Improving rapidly every time he steps up in trip and best performance of his career came when staying on strongly to win well over 2m6f at Stratford last time.
Was off the bridle a long way from home then before his reserves of stamina kicked in and the step up to three miles should hold no fears.
Can continue his upward progress.
MEDIEVAL (5.15 Bath, 1m handicap)
Dangerously well handicapped off a rating of 75 having won off a mark of 86 a few years ago.
Will be suited by the ground and has run well on a number of occasions in the last year. This is probably the worst race he’s contested for some time and he looks capable of ending a long losing run.
