Monday’s fixture list of UK horse racing action sees three meetings heading to post over the sticks and the all-weather and we’ve picked out our Monday racing best bets and tips at each card.

Following a top-class weekend of horse racing action, a new week gets underway on Monday with three fixtures heading to post with racing on the all-weather and over obstacles.

Unfortunately Ffos Las’ scheduled jumps fixture has been abandoned but the day’s meetings still sees jumps racing from north of the border at Ayr, while Plumpton also heads to post in the afternoon. Completing the Monday trio of fixtures is an evening all-weather fixture on the Kempton polytrack under the floodlights.

We’ve looked through the day’s fixtures around the country to pick out our Monday racing best bets and tips at each card taking place throughout the day.

1:45 Ayr – Visit Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Cl5 (4yo+ 0-105) 2m

It might be worth giving another chance to the unexposwed DORA DE JANEIRO who showed some fair form in a couple of bumper contests around the turn of the year before getting off the mark at Musselburgh at the first attempt over hurdles.

Sheena West’s charge shaped with further promise on her return to action following a break back at Musselburgh when finishing third to The Bees Knees although he was some way adrift of the winner. That run might have been needed but he failed to fire when next seen returning to the East Lothian track and he ran disappointingly.

Despite that lesser run he could quickly bounce back and this more testing surface shouldn’t hold any fears given the ground was soft when he got off the mark. She’s also been dropped 4lbs in the ratings and still relatively unexposed the Ballingarry mare could post a big effort here.

1:53 Plumpton – Weekly Race Passes Half Price Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 3m1½f

GARRANE has yet to get his head in front over fences, but the winning hurdler handles these conditions well and he’s posted a number of solid runs in defeat as he searches for a first chase success.

There was plenty of encouragement to be had from the Tikkanen gelding’s third on his reappearance at Chepstow and he ran at least as well in a subsequent Hereford contest where he finished six lengths’ fourth to Cuban Pete where his cause wasn’t aided by a last fence blunder although he looked held at the time.

That mishap knocked some of the stuffing out of him and he weakened on the run to the line after the last; but he finished only a neck behind a subsequent winner and the handicapper has eased him another 1lb in the ratings so he could take advantage of his sliding mark before too much longer.

PENNY POET returns to hurdles after a lengthy spell away from the jumps game but the Intikhab mare might be worth chancing back in this sphere.

Neil Mulholland has his runners in decent fettle and the selection is still relatively unexposed after just three outings over hurdles. Following an encouraging hurdles debut second at Wincanton behind the smart Posh Trish she proved no match for Cheltenham Festival winner Epatante at Exeter on her next run and she might have been amiss in her final start back at Wincanton when beating only two home.

Subsequently absent for more than 470 days until returning at Wolverhampton in June, she hasn’t fired in her two starts on the flat over the summer; but she could still have scope for better returning to hurdling and switching to handicaps where a mark of 95 might not prove prohibitive.

This doesn’t look a particularly strong contest and she might be capable of a big run if fully wound up returning from five months off.

2:50 Ayr – Racing TV HD On Sky 426 Handicap Chase Cl3 (5yo+ 0-125) 3m

GLITTERING LOVE took really well to chasing during the 2018/19 campaign, winning four on the spin which included a hat-trick of successes over this distance in soft ground and Nicky Richards’ charge can get back on track here.

A Newcastle faller on his return last December at Newcastle, he has finished third on both starts over fences since with the latest coming over course and distance last month when finishing six lengths’ third to Crixus’s Escape.

He’s entitled to strip fitter for that reappearance and no surprise to see him firmly in the mix once again given his excellent course record and the Winged Love gelding should go close under Brian Hughes with the heavy conditions unlikely to faze him given he won on heavy ground at Hexham last term and he’s proven well-suited by the muddy conditions.

4:30 Kempton – Unibet New Instant Roulette Maiden Stakes Cl5 (3yo+) 1m3f

AUREUM was too green to do herself any justice on her debut at this venue back in June but John Gosden’s charge is expected to do much better this time around.

The Medaglia d’Oro filly did hint at ability despite her inexperience in finishing fifth behind Maurimo, beaten around ten lengths. That form looks fair however and a subsequent winner has come out of that contest.

Her subsequent absence is a slight worry with this being her first run since some six months on, but likely to be more streetwise this time around now she’s had a run she could step up on the experience with the longer trip a plus and with improvement anticipated she can make her presence felt here despite her lack of a recent outing.

6:00 Kempton – Try Our New Super Boosts At Unibet Handicap (Div I) Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 1m

MADAME PELTIER is progressing well since returning from a break, winning back-to-back outings at Chelmsford and Lingfield and the Exceed and Excel filly can continue in form to land her hat-trick.

Charle Fellowes’ charge hasn’t won either start by far, posting winning margins of a neck and short-head respectively; but she appeared to win a shade readily latest and with the front two pulling clear she could yet have more improvement in the tank.

The runner-up in that last outing has won since to boost the form and while she has a further 6lbs rise to contend with she can continue nonetheless to make her presence felt and a hat-trick of wins might not be out of her grasp.
