MONDAY RACING BEST BETS – TIPS AT AYR, SOUTHWELL, LINGFIELD, WINDSOR & THIRSK
1:35 Ayr – William Hill Lengthen Your Odds Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-60) 6f
It is a long time since MO HENRY last tasted success and we have to go back to July 2017 to find the last occasion the Monsieur Bond gelding last visited the winner’s enclosure. However Adrian Keatley’s charge could be worth chancing to end his long losing streak here.
That last win came at Naas and his form since has been patchy; but he ran well on his last start at Thirsk nine days ago when beaten just over one length and he could build on that effort.
It is worth remembering he missed more than two years and he had been in fair form on the all-weather on his return when kept to sprint trips so later efforts over further could be worth forgiving along with a poor effort over hurdles.
Proven on turf and at this venue where he’s a course and distance winner he could make his presence felt from just 2lbs higher in the weights taking on in-form all-weather rivals who have to prove as effective on grass.
2:00 Lingfield – Download The At The Races App Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-65) 1m4f
DEVIZES has been flying in recent times, winning four of his last six starts which includes latest at Lingfield when beating Where’s Tom by a head, holding on well to register the win with the front two pulling clear by three lengths.
He’s up another 4lbs for this latest outing but he hasn’t been winning his races by far and he could still hold a secret or two from the handicapper and he could yet feature here on a good mark.
Three of those four wins have come over this course and distance and the form of his Kempton runner-up back in March was boosted when the winner went in again next time out. Further progress can’t be ruled out and he can continue his good spell of form with another victory here.
2:10 Ayr – William Hill Extra Places Every Day Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-95) 6f
BIELSA could be worth chancing to bounce back following his absence having had wind surgery in the interim and the Invincible Spirit gelding could go close if recapturing past form.
Kevin Ryan’s charge had won four of his first five career starts, but he lost his way somewhat last term although to be fair to him he did contest some valuable handicaps and he ran better than the bare result in the Ayr Gold Cup despite only finishing ninth and again when fifth at Doncaster on his final run of the season where he was beaten four lengths by Gulliver.
Eased 1lb in the ratings ahead of his reappearance which comes on the back of wind surgery he drops into a Class 3 contest and he’s proved in the past he can go well fresh, winning twice when returning from breaks greater than 100 days.
All ground comes alike to him and he has winning form on underfoot conditions ranging from good to firm to heavy so these quicker conditions shouldn’t present an issue and he can make his presence felt here if returning to something like his best form.
3:25 Southwell – Dapper Spaniel Gastro Pub Rolleston Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-75) 2m½f
CALL MY BLUFF found a big jolt of improvement last term when fitted with cheekpieces, winning three of his four starts since the headgear went on and losing no caste in defeat behind the high-class Main Fact at Nottingham back in November.
The Make Believe gelding had won at Goodwood and Pontefract either side of an all-weather victory at Kempton and given both those turf wins came on soft ground it augurs well for this switch to fibresand that he can handle this deep surface.
Dominic Ffrenc Davis’ charge may just need this return, but that last run stands out given what the winner went on to achieve over hurdles and if he returns here at the peak of his powers then he could take some stopping with the potential for further improvement to come.
4:40 Lingfield – Watch Free Race Replays On attheraces.com Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-70) 7f
SOYOUNIQUE arrives here on a hat-trick of wins having recently struck at Wolverhampton and here latterly; the Siyouni gelding might be worth chancing to bring up the three-timer here.
The four-year old is still lightly-raced but he was value for his defeat of Gonzaga recently over this course and distance and that form took a boost when the third won next time.
Sir Mark Todd’s charge was rated 70 on just his third career start so turning out here off just 63 following his brace of wins he remains very well treated on his historic form and if he can continue his current race-by-race improvement then he ought to go well and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him landing another victory here.
6:20 Windsor – Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-85) 1m2f
CLASSICAL WAVE is 2-3 for this yard since his switch from France, scoring victories at Wolverhampton and Lingfield before finding only a similarly progressive type too strong back at Lingfield latest where he was beaten just a neck behind Fierospeed.
He raced keenly on that last outing and possibly just failed to last home; but that form is decent in the contest of this race and he could have better to come on the back of his three runs for trainer Peter Charalambous.
The handicapper has pushed him up just 1lb for that latest near-miss and the Gleneagles gelding might prove a tough nut to crack here if proving as effective returning to turf. He didn’t really fire on grass in France, but given his current good spell of form he could be worth chancing on the surface nonetheless and he can quickly get back on the winning trail.
6:30 Thirsk – Over 60 Betting Sites At bettingsites.ltd.uk Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-85) 6f
SPANISH ANGEL scored his last win at Windsor last June and the Gutaifan gelding might be worth chancing to get back to winning ways here.
Ruth Carr’s charge performed well in defeat following that win while under the care of Andrew Balding and he showed he still had something to offer on his reappearance from six months off the track and debut for his new yard when finishing just over one length fourth behind Treble Treble at Newcastle.
That looked a stronger race than this contest and he was unlucky in running having been trapped on the rail when still travelling well and losing his place; it was all too late for him once he got in the clear and he wasn’t given the most vigorous of rides having lost his chance.
He still caught the eye with his finishing effort however and he’ll surely be sharper with that under his belt. Racing off the same mark here he can get back to winning ways and he’s 1lb lower than when last successful so a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise.
6:50 Windsor – Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap Cl5 (3yo 0-75) 6f
KOHINOOR didn’t build on her victory at Haydock last July but Clive Cox’s charge was contesting better races than this and the Adaay filly may be worth chancing to make a winning return to action here.
She struck by a half-length when getting off the mark from Famille Rose where the front pair pulled almost four lengths clear; the runner-up and third have both won since but the race did come on soft ground and she failed to back up that win in a trio of subsequent starts.
Her last though came over further in heavy ground and that might have stretched her stamina; but back over this shorter trip she could go well if the quicker ground doesn’t inconvenience and this is a drop in class from her past runs.
The Clive Cox yard has started the season in decent fettle and it is too early to write her off from finding further progress; she can go well here and make a winning return to action.
