Monday’s 3,562/1 Lucky 15 – Four Strong E/W Picks For 17th October

Four meetings go to post to start off the week on Monday, 17th October, with the action coming from Plumpton, Pontefract, Windsor and Wolverhampton. Our lucky 15 includes a couple of confident picks at Pontefract, plus one apiece at Plumpton and Windsor.

Our expert tipster has produced their best bets across the cards, which make up our advised Monday Lucky 15.

Odds correct at time of posting – 8:10pm Sunday 13th October

Sirona (2.00 Pontefract) – 9/2

Godolphin runner Local Dynasty has won two of his three races, with his only defeat coming in group company and will prove a tough nut to crack here. However, we think it could be worth taking him on with SIRONA

Charlie & Mark Johnston’s filly has also won two of her three races, including when bolting up in a Listed race over in Germany last time out. That was a hugely impressive performance and is the best piece of form on offer in this.

She receives 2lb from Local Dynasty and that may be enough to see her get her nose in front. This should be a two horse race between the two previously mentioned, and it may be worth backing the straight forecast of 1st Sirona, 2nd Local Dynasty, but we wouldn’t put you off playing it safe and backing the reverse forecast either.

Andaleep (3.00 Windsor) – 9/2

This race looks to be a straight shootout between the two market leaders – Wisper and ANDALEEP, and it’s the latter who we’ve come down on.

Since joining the Daniel & Clare Kubler yard, he’s won five of his ten races and placed in three of the others. One of his other defeats can be excuses as that was on the all-weather and he never shows his best form on that surface, and the other race he failed to place in was when stepping up to class 3 company, where he only just failed to place.

He’s won two of his three races here, including his most recent run where he stayed on strongly to win nicely over C&D. He may be joint top-weight in here, but he’s more than capable of winning still, and it would be a shock to see him finish outside the places again.

Cockalorum (3.10 Pontefract) – 9/1

Roger Fell’s COCKALORUM will appreciate the drop into class 4 company here – the last he raced in this level was back in May 2021 when landing a quickfire double, and we’re backing the drop in class to be enough to see him back in the winners enclosure.

He hasn’t won since that race back in May last year, but he’s been running well in better races than this. He’s placed in four of his races, including notably going close at Hamilton last time out, which was his best performance of the year. A repeat of that level performance here should be enough to win this.

He’s further boosted by the jockey booking, with Clifford Lee is red-hot form of late (9 winners in the past two weeks) and we’re confident he can steer Cockalorum to a long overdue victory here.

Hill Station (3.20 Plumpton) – 5/1

This is a fairly open race, but HILL STATION has been knocking on the door and should’ve won on his hurdles debut. He drops in class here and receives weight from all but one of his rivals, so this looks an ideal opportunity for Gary Moore’s gelding to get his head in front when it matters.

He appeared to be comfortably ahead on debut back in June but a clumsy mistake two out saw him fall and gift victory to Captain Square. That runner has gone in again since to further boost that form.

He then stepped up to class 3 company and was outclassed by Milton Harris’ impressive Mucuna. His most recent run was a step in the right direction, when only finding the progressive Mr Freedom too good at Fontwell.

Recent course winner Mordred is the only one in here who has won over hurdles and rates the biggest danger, but our selection receives a whopping 21lb from that runner (including Niall Houlihan’s 3lb claim) and that’s more than enough to see Hill Station grab a deserved first win over hurdles.
