NAVAN BEST BETS ON WEDNESDAY – IRISH RACING TIPS TODAY
1:45 Navan – Arkle Bar Median Auction Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 5½f
DANCING REBEL stepped up on a promising debut to finish third at Cork eight days ago, beaten around three lengths behind Pirate Jenny where she ran on well and finishing clear of the fourth.
Ken Condon’s charge might ideally want a bit further than this in time but she showed enough to suggest she can be competitive at this distance and the Highland Reel filly can improve again on the back of recent performances to make her presence felt again.
Further progress should put her firmly in the mix and she can make it third-time lucky here.
2:55 Navan – Newgrange Handicap (3yo+) 5½f
TEXAS ROCK emerged from a spell in the doldrums to score at the Curragh in August and returning from a break it might be worth chancing on the Rock Of Gibraltar gelding to follow up.
Martin Grassick’s veteran was ending a losing streak stretching back to 2017 where he took a Listed prize over course and distance, but his form since has been very patchy and he had offered little encouragement this term until popping up latest to beat Dragons Call by a head.
That form has been boosted since and he’s still very well treated on old form despite a rise in the weights. While he isn’t getting any younger he can remain competitive here and no surprise to see him in the mix again.
3:30 Navan – NavanRacecourse.ie Maiden (2yo) 1m
TEMPLE OF ARTEMIS shaped well on his debut at the Curragh ten days ago, running on well late and finishing with running left to cross the line in fourth and it might be worth chancing the Galileo colt to improve for the experience.
Aidan O’Brien’s charge was slowly away on that debut and perhaps didn’t have the best of positions from his high draw; but he ran on late and ought to appreciate this extra furlong.
There could be more to come from him on the back of that promising first effort and he can make his presence felt with this longer trip sure to suit.
5:12 Navan – Yellow Furze Handicap (Div II) (3yo+ 45-65) 1m2f
JAZELLE opened her win account when going in over this course and distance two starts ago and the Red Jazz filly can get back to winning ways here.
Chris Timmons’ charge had finished runner-up at Leopardstown in October behind Dawn Tapper, only beaten a half-length and she improved on that performance to get off the mark here when outpointing Victory March to score by a neck.
Better than the bare result last time when fifth behind Miss Florentine she can give another good account of herself here with Robbie Colgan taking over from a claimer and with conditions unlikely to be an issue she can regain the winning thread.
