PUNCHESTOWN TIPS ON TUESDAY – IRISH RACING BEST BETS
1:30 Punchestown – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 7f
TORN shaped with promise on her debut at Naas last month, finishing sixth on that occasion but with the experience behind her the Bated Breath filly can prove a different proposition now.
Ger Lyons’ charge was slowly away on that occasion but travelled quite well through the race despite her inexperience and she’ll have have learned plenty from that run so ought to improve as a result and she could do better for a yard that is going well.
She likely won’t need to improve a great deal from her debut to take a hand in this contest and there’d be no surprise to see her in the mix.
2:30 Punchestown – Donate To The Coast To The Curragh Cycle In Honour Of Pat Smullen Handicap (3yo+ 50-75) 1m
THALQEEQ is still a maiden but the Muhaarar gelding can get off the mark here in a pretty open contest.
Dermot Weld’s charge has made the frame the last twice, finding only one too good at the Curragh in August before finishing a close third at Dundalk latest behind Phantom Power where he was perhaps given too much to do.
That effort was a shade disappointing but on the form of his earlier runner-up finish where he was only beaten a short-head is more solid and the return of this extra furlong and a visor could prove positive to his chances so he can go well if his wide draw doesn’t hold him back.
3:03 Punchestown – BetVictor Race (3yo+) 1m1f
A decent little race which can go the way of SHERKIN ISLAND who stepped up on a satisfactory debut third to readily land the odds at the Galway Festival next time, beating Kojin by almost three lengths and Dermot Weld’s charge can improve again.
The Fastnet Rock filly showed the quicker ground to be no problem having made her debut in heavy conditions and she travelled well in the race at Ballybrit where she made most after a furlong and hit the line strongly.
This slightly longer trip could bring about another jolt of improvement and open to plenty of progression ought to make her presence felt here.
4:40 Punchestown – Irish Racing Working Together Handicap (Div I) (3yo+ 45-65) 1m1f
EVERGREN AND RED can get back on the winning trail here and Noel Meade’s charge can deliver a big run in what looks a competitive handicap.
The Requinto gelding was a winner at Cork back in May on her return from a break and she’s been running quite well since in defeat, finishing runner-up at Killarney in July and she posted a close third at Navan when last seen ten days ago where she was beaten only a half-length by Jazelle.
This drop back in trip ought to suit on that evidence and his rider can utilise his full claim this time around so another big performance could be on the cards and he can resume winning ways here.
