1:45 Punchestown – Welcome Back Racing Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-109) 2m

ROMELLA arrives here on a hat-trick of wins and the Milan mare could be worth sticking with to land the three-timer for trainer John Walsh.

Wins at Clonmel and Roscommon latterly either side of a break put her firmly in the mix and she reopposes with Go Gill Go who finished runner-up in that Roscommon contest on slightly worse terms for a two lengths’ win.

Despite needing a bit more on the book following a 6lbs rise in the weights she did appear to score a shade comfortably and every chance she can confirm the form here.

2:20 Punchestown – Go Racing In Kildare Mares Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m

MIGHTY MEGSIE has returned this term in good fettle, finishing a close runner-up at Tramore in August behind Wojood and then running out a five lengths’ winner over Shanacoole Dasy at Down Royal on the back of that reappearance.

Jessica Harrington’s Arakan mare is lightly raced over hurdles and is likely to have more to offer on the back of that breakthrough win given she won a shade comfortably last time.

She tries handicaps now where a mark of 106 could prove very workable and every chance she can follow up here.

3:30 Punchestown – Extra Places Everyday At BetVictor Novice Chase (Grade 3) (4yo+) 2m2½f

EMBITTERED wasn’t beaten far behind reopposing Exit Poll when the pair clashed at Roscommon recently, but Joseph O’Brien’s charge is taken to reverse that form now.

The Fame And Glory gelding contested at the top level last term without managing to get his head in front behind the likes of Franco De Port, Energumene and Andy Dufresne; he made the breakthrough though over the larger obstacles when successful at Killarney in August and his latest run saw him denied by just a neck by Jessica Harrington’s reopposing rival.

The pair met on level terms last time but the selection has a 7lbs pull for this rematch which can see him turn the tables and he has course-winning form to his name having taken a bumper here a couple of seasons ago.

He looks sure to give a good account of himself and there’d be no shock in seeing him firmly in the mix at the business end.

4:05 Punchestown – Irish Daily Star – Best For Racing Coverage Chase (Grade 3) (5yo+) 3m

GALVIN is bordering on top-class over fences and comes into this contest having won hs last five starts which include the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen, beating Next Destination and Gordon Elliott’s charge should take plenty of beating.

The Gold Well gelding has only once finished out of the frame over the larger obstacles and he has an impressive win record spanning all disciplines under Rules with ten from 16 in all. His latest was a career-best and while he drops back in trip here he’s fully effective at the distance and has run well fresh in the past.

This is no easy task on his reappearance to give 8lbs to this field of rivals and he’s rated 3lbs below Brahma Bull on official rankings so on the face of things he has a tough test ahead; but he likely has more to come given his huge progress last term over fences and he remains the one to beat despite the negatives.
