RACING BEST BETS ON FRIDAY 28 MAY – TIPS FOR THE DAY’S RACING FIXTURES ACROSS THE UK
1:35 Carlisle – Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-70) 5f
GOOD LUCK FOX got off the mark for this yard when scoring on his latest start at Thirsk earlier in the month, beating Boundless Power by a head and Paul Midgley’s charge can follow up here.
A dual-winner for Richard Hannon a couple of seasons ago the Society Rock gelding has improved with each start for his new yard and he appeared to relish the softer surface when digging deep last time out to make his return to winning ways.
That form has been boosted since with the runner-up going one better and a 5lbs rise in the weights is workable with the potential for better still to come.
This ground will hold no fears and having won from considerably higher marks as a novice he remains old treated despite his hike in the handicap so ought to have a big say here.
2:10 Carlisle – Download The Casumo App Today Handicap Cl4 (3yo 0-85) 5f
HEY MR was progressive as a juvenile, bettering his performances each time leading to a win at Nottingham on his handicap debut; following a good reappearance third at York Roger Varian’s charge can get back to winning ways.
The Territories colt has proven testing conditions to hold no fears and his Nottingham win came in soft ground when beating Imperium Blue by two lengths. He returned on better ground ten days ago to finish third to Bedford Flyer at York during the Dante Meeting but ought to strip fitter for that outing.
He’ll be more at home on this softer ground and racing off the same mark as last time he can build on that encouraging reappearance to resume winning ways.
2:50 Brighton – whichbookie.co.uk Bookmaker Reviews Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-75) 1m
PRINCE ROCK scored his latest success at Lingfield three starts ago under this rider but wasn’t seen to best effect on his next outing; however he bounced back latest with a very good second behind a thriving rival at Lingfield and the Society Rock gelding could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet.
Simon Dow’s charge found only Mykonos St John too strong by a length back at Lingfield and that rival won again on his next start to give the form a boost.
He has to prove as effective on turf but he’s lighly raced on this surface and he could go well here despite being 2lbs higher although his rider can use his full claim this time around. If the different surface doesn’t catch him out then he can give a good account and this doesn’t look the strongest of races so a big run wouldn’t come as a shock.
4:10 Yarmouth – Quinnbet Acca Bonus Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-65) 1m2f
GLENCORA got off the mark on her final start last term at Kempton, beating Cafe Milano, and the Gleneagles filly can get back to winning ways here having looked in need of the run latest on her reappearance at Lingfield last month.
David Elsworth’s charge struck by a half-length in that breakthrough victory from which the fourth has won three times since and she should strip fitter for her reappearance where she was a shade disappointing in only finishing ninth.
Twice placed on turf last term she should have little qualms about returning to this surface and the drop in trip is of no concern so she ought to make her presence felt here if coming on for her reappearance.
4:30 Brighton – whichbookie.co.uk Best For Racing Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-65) 1m4f
LADY ELYSIA won three times last term which included two at Bath and while she’s been winless since her last success back in September she’s largely run well in defeat including both runs this term.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s charge struck her last win at Bath with a defeat of Hammy’s End and she’s made the frame on both her starts this campaign, latterly finishing fourth back at Bath latest behind Grand Canal and beaten around six lengths.
The Champs Elysees mare perhaps wasn’t seen to best effect having been forced to race wide but she did have a subsequent winner behind her and she’s been dropped 1lb since so can go close with a repeat if handling this more undulating track.
4:45 Yarmouth – quinncasino.com Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 1m
TURNTABLE stepped up on a promising reappearance third at Yarmouth last month to get back to winning ways at Newmarket two weeks ago and Chris Wall’s charge can double up here.
The Pivotal gelding won twice last term at Doncaster and Newmarket during July and he ran out a ready winner latest over Jean Baptiste, scoring by a length and a half and shaping as if he had more in the tank so he can continue to improve.
That form has been boosted by the runner-up winning since and a 4lbs rise for that victory last time may not be enough of an anchor in preventing a repeat so he looks worth chancing here to follow up that latest success.
6:20 Stratford – pointtopoint.co.uk Champion Novices’ Hunters’ Chase (For The John Corbet Cup) Cl2 (5yo+) 3m3½f
PREMIER MAGIC has been a prolific winner in the point to point ranks and arrives here on the back of a four-timer having won under Rules at Leicester in February and then taking a very prestigious prize back between the flags at Chaddesley Corbett where he ran out a twelve lengths’ winner over Ennistown.
Bradley Gibbs’ Court Cave gelding doesn’t have too many miles on the clock and the form of his Leicester success has worked out quite well with the third winning twice since. He seems a very versatile sort with regards to trip and ground and he should give another good account here where he can maintain his winning run and he looks a big player in this line-up.
7:20 Haydock – Watch Irish Racing On Racing TV Fillies’ Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 7f
AL SAARIYAH progressed well last term, making the frame twice before getting off the mark with a defeat of Vedute at Yarmouth on her final start of the campaign.
The Acclamation filly may have needed her reappearance run where she beat only one home behind Baba Reza at Lingfield although she was only two lengths’ adrift and Simon Crisford’s charge is likely to strip a good deal fitter for that outing.
That form looks quite fair with the runner-up since filling the same spot in a Class 2 contest at Newmarket and with scope to do better she is worth another chance here.
8:50 Pontefract – Constant Security Services Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 5f
VENTURA EXPRESS was winless for Richard Fahey but he did post a series of very respectable finishes prior to joining Paul Midgley and the Mayson gelding wasted no time in getting of the mark for his new yard when making a winning stable reappearance after more than six months off at Pontefract in April.
He ran out a four lengths’ winner over Dapper Man on that occasion, after which he returned there under a penalty nine days on to find only one too good behind Soul Seeker and on these revised terms he can reverse that form.
Still unexposed over this shorter trip having had just three runs at the minimum distance he can improve again and no surprise if he were to come out on top this time.
