RACING BEST BETS ON WEDNESDAY – TIPS FOR THE DAY’S UK RACING FIXTURES
2:50 Uttoxeter – Bresbet Back To Bookmaking Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Cl4 (3yo+ 0-120) 2m
Only four runners for this contest and SID HOODIE might be worth chancing having got back to winning ways at Market Rasen in July and the Rip Van Winkle mare may be capable of following up.
No stranger to success for previous handler Charlie Mann the seven-year old stepped up on her debut for Alex Hales following wind surgery to score readily latest with a five lengths’ victory over Al Kherb and that form has since been boosted.
She could have more still to offer and a 6lbs rise can prove workable if she can build on that recent victory so no surprise to see her in the mix once more.
3:10 Bath – Free Replays On attheraces.com Handicap (Bath Summer Stayers’ Series Qualifier) Cl6 (3yo+ 0-65) 1m5f
HASHTAGMETOO has been running well of late, scoring over this course in June and twice making the frame since including latest when keeping on for third back here last month behind French Conquest.
Jamie Osborne’s Declaration Of War filly shaped on that occasion as if she were worth a try at a stiffer test and so goes up in distance here which might unlock some progress in the four-year old who also eases back down in grade into a Class 6 contest.
The headgear he has worn in recent runs is omitted this time and with Saffie Osborne taking off a valuable 5lbs there’s every chance she can turn in a big performance on her first try at this trip.
3:30 Lingfield – Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-70) 7f
CLEGANE has scored both of her career wins at this venue, scoring over the trip back in March when trained by Stuart Willams and getting back on the scoresheet on her second start for Jane Chapple-Hyam latest when winning by a neck from Smooth Spirit last month.
The Iffraaj filly won a shade comfortably that day, coming with a smooth effort in the last furlong to win well and eased down close home. The handicapper has only pushed him up 2lbs for that victory and a repeat performance could well see her get home in front again.
3:40 Bath – EBF Fillies’ Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m3½f
DREAMS UNWIND is one of two runners in the race for trainer Mark Johnston and as the choice of Franny Norton might be the way to go in this trappy handicap.
The Dansili filly has won two of her last four starts, most recently when going in when last seen at Musselburgh last month where she bossed the race from the outset to win readily from Haizoom who boosted the form on Tuesday with a win at Ripon.
She’s only been raised 4lbs for that success and takes a slight drop back in trip which is of little consequence over this stiffer track; with the yard in form she could be capable of finding some more improvement and every chance she can go in again if handling the road-like conditions.
5:50 Hamilton – Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro 2-Y-O Series Final Nursery Handicap Cl2 (2yo) 6f
I’M A GAMBLER wasn’t seen to best effect in a competitive big-field handicap at York last month, setting off hard and weakening quickly but Mark Johnston’s charge is capable of better and might find this contest more suitable.
The No Nay Never colt had won both previous starts in smaller fields which include over course and distance and the handicapper has quickly dropped him 4lbs following his poor effort on the Knavesmire.
This is easier taking on just five rivals and he could prove hard to peg back if given a soft lead which may be likely. He does have top-weight to carry but competing here just 2lbs above his most recent victory he ought to go close and can resume winning ways.
7:35 Worcester – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 2m4f
Lightly-raced BLUE SANS has got off to a good start over hurdles, twice finishing runner-up in starts at Sedgefield and this venue and scoring a victory in between at Fontwell where the Sans Frontieres mare ran out an easy winner.
Only beaten a head latest behind Drumlee Watar over a longer trip here the form has since held up with the winner going close at Bangor and the application of first-time cheekpieces could elicit some further improvement.
Dropping back in trip for this latest outing could prove a positive move for Fergal O’Brien’s charge as she goes handicapping and she can get back to winning ways.
