PAY THE WOMAN is 2-2 over hurdles since joining this yard from Ireland and now setting out over fences Martin Keighley’s charge can make an immediate impact in this sphere.
The Doyen mare has won here over the smaller obstacles as well as at Worcester and there could be better to come from her with plenty of experience in the point-to-point field to call upon now she goes chasing.
An opening mark of 104 could prove to be very workable heading straight into handicap company and she’s an interesting runner here who could be worth chancing.
2:05 Stratford – Charlie Longsdon Racing Handicap Chase Cl3 (4yo+ 0-140) 2m3½f
RESERVE TANK was a dual-Grade One winner over hurdles but everything went wrong after Colin Tizzard’s charge landed a Grade Two over fences during a light 2019/20 season over the larger obstacles and he failed to recapture his best form last term back over the smaller obstacles.
He failed to complete twice from his five starts although those both came in Graded company and his last run of the season saw him finish runner-up behind Hooper in a handicap at this venue.
There’s an element of risk attached to the Jeremy gelding who makes his seasonal debut here back over the larger obstacles, but this is much easier than anything he’s faced in the past over fences and if returning to action in the same sort of form he showed last time then he could make a return to winning ways from what could be a very fair mark having won off 151 as a novice.
2:13 Lingfield – Coral EBF River Eden Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m5f
Dual-winner SAYYIDA drops back in class here and can get back to winning ways stepping up markedly in trip.
Charlie Appleby’s charge recorded both of her wins at Newmarket over the summer over twelve furlongs and she ran to a good level in defeat thereafter, placed in Listed and Group Three company at that venue and she might have found the trip too sharp on her latest run back at Flat HQ when finishing sixth behind Ville De Grace.
Dropping back into Listed company here the Dubawi filly can do better for this extra yardage which sees her try 1m 5f for the first time and the increased emphasis on stamina should suit her better having looked a solid stayer over twelve furlongs.
She makes her polytrack debut and assuming there’s no issues switching to this surface she ought to post a big run and can get back on the scoresheet.
3:15 Stratford – J.H. Rowe Memorial Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m6½f
FORT DENISON has shown some fair form over hurdles, firstly for Tim Vaughn and when last seen on his first start for Venetia Williams over this course and distance little over three weeks ago where the Galileo gelding finished a good third behind Canastero.
He’d had a few spins on the flat for his new handler prior to that return to hurdling which saw him show some improved form for the step up in trip and there may be more to come from him now he tackles fences for the first time.
He isn’t obviously bred for chasing, boasting a flat pedigree but he represents a yard which does well with its’ chasers and likely to have been well schooled he could be worth chancing in what look a fairly ordinary race for his introduction to the larger obstacles.
3:23 Lingfield – Coral EBF Fleur De Lys Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race) (AWC Fast-Track Qualifier) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m
MAAMORA could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet for the first time since winning a Group Three contest at Sandown last August and Simon and Ed Crisford’s charge should give a good account.
The Dubawi mare has finished runner-up in each of her last two outings at Longchamp and Newmarket respectively, latterly beaten two lengths by Soft Whisper over this trip in Listed company and she can go one better back on polytrack where she’s unexposed.
She doesn’t have the best of draws to work from here but she brings some solid form to the table and is unlikely to be far away if running up to her best.
4:50 Ffos Las – Download The Star Sports App Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-135) 3m
GLADIATEUR ALLEN was progressive over hurdles last term, winning at Ascot and rounding off his campaign with a very good third in a competitive Grade Three contest at Sandown.
Jane Williams’ charge could prove even better this term with this longer trip expected to bring out further improvement and the Saint Des Saints gelding ought to make his presence felt taking on more exposed rivals on his reappearance in what is a step down in grade.
This is quite competitive contest but given his form from last term he should be capable of making his mark and he’s bred to appreciat this stiffer test so there’d be no surprise to see him taking a forward step.
6:00 Chelmsford – Chelmsford City Racecourse Membership Available Now Handicap Cl6 (3yo+ 0-60) 1m6f
PAX BRITANNICA won this race twelve months ago from just 4lbs lower in the weights and the Zoffany filly can regain the winning thread here.
David Simcock’s charge has been hit-or-miss this term, but she did bounce back from a couple of lesser runs on turf to post a very good second behind Weardiditallgorong back over course and distance latest, beaten three lengths having perhaps just been given too much to do behind an easy winner.
That form hasn’t really worked out but she’s been left alone at the weights for this latest outing and she’s been placed off higher marks in the past so ought to remain competitive and she can repeat the feat from last year and win this race for a second time.
7:30 Chelmsford – tote.co.uk Free Streaming Every UK Race Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 7f
HALA JOUD won well last time out and the Belardo filly could follow up with a repeat.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge had won earlier in the season at Lingfield and posted a solid third next time out here in July although her next couple of runs were less successful and he beat only one home in successive runs over course and distance and Kempton.
She did bounce back though latest, beating Secret Moment by three-parts of a length, taking advantage of a drop in grade in the process for a confidence-boosting success and the runner-up from that race won next time.
The handicapper has pushed her up 5lbs for that success, but she remains with scope now she’s back on the scoresheet and while she goes back up in class she can make her presence felt again with a repeat of that latest performance.
