RACING TIPS FOR WEDNESDAY – BEST BETS ON THE FLAT & OVER JUMPS
1:38 Worcester – Fred & Mercy Rimell Memorial Handicap Chase Cl3 (4yo+ 0-130) 2m½f
DEMOPOLIS is lightly raced over fences and the Poliglote gelding can get back to winning ways in this sphere on his return to action following seven months off.
Philip Hobbs’ runners have been in good fettle and the selection went close to a win last time out at Fontwell in March where he was only beaten a head by Away For Slates over the larger obstacles which was just his third start in the discipline although he had won at Ludlow over fences in 2020.
Still unexposed as a chaser he has seen the form of that last chase start being largely upheld and while he’s 5lbs higher here he ought to run well for his in-form yard with the potential for better to come.
1:55 Fontwell – whichbookie.co.uk Free Bets Handicap Chase Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m2f
GO AS YOU PLEASE can follow up his last time success at Warwick and with his main rival out of the contest Paul Webber’s charge can follow up here.
The Jeremy gelding is a three-time winner over fences, scoring twice in 2020 and making a winning reappearance to make it three latest where he ran out a three-parts of a length winner over Royal Plaza who was due to reoppose but is now a non-runner.
He would have won a shade easier had he not made a mistake over the final obstacle and he’s only up 3lbs which potentially leaves him well-handicapped still and this slightly longer trip is no issue so another big run wouldn’t come as a surprise with every chance of him following up.
2:30 Fontwell – whichbookie.co.uk Bookmaker Reviews Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (3yo+ 0-135) 2m3f
It might be worth chancing NO RISK DES FLOS on his return from six months off the track and Olly Murphy’s charge may be able to make a winning reappearance.
The No Risk At All gelding showed ability last term in winning twice over hurdles from five starts, registering wins at Uttoxeter and Southwell before running a shade disappointingly at Perth when last seen finishing fifth of seven runners.
He can do better returning from a break and now switching his attentions to handicapping where an opening 128 might prove very workable given he has the potential to improve.
3:15 Newmarket – British EBF Future Stayers Nursery Handicap (Sire And Dam Restricted Race) Cl2 (2yo) 1m2f
WIND YOUR NECK IN won for this column when getting off the mark at Salisbury three weeks ago and the Decorated Knight colt can continue his progression to go in again and double up on his win tally.
The Decorated Knight colt has steadily improved with each run, bettering his finishing position each time and making a winning breakthrough at the third attempt when readily seeing off Israr under this rider.
He travelled well and stayed on strongly for a comfortable win in the mud that day and while conditions here are different with much much quicker ground he should have little issue having gone close the time before on better ground.
Clive Cox’s charge ought to have more to offer and this longer trip on his handicap debut can see him find some improvement to defy his opening 86 rating which might underestimate his potential.
3:50 Newmarket – Devils Dyke Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 1m
BASHKIROVA puts her unbeaten record on the line stepping into a handicap for the first time but William Haggas’ charge could take some beating and the Pivotal filly looks a potentially smart prospect.
2-2 already in her career with wins at Nottingham and Newcastle latterly where she was a ready victor, she has seen that form since being franked by the runner-up.
It was difficult not to have been impressed by her that day with the way she travelled into the race before readily asserting in the last furlong and she was value for more than the half-length winning margin.
Now handicapping off a mark of 100 she could prove to be ahead of that initial rating back on turf and she should make a bold bid to make it a hat-trick of wins.
8:00 Kempton – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 6f
LOVELY BREEZE won on her only previous visit to this track and Hugo Palmer’s charge can get back to winning ways back on this surface.
The Sepoy filly has been in good form this term, winning twice on turf since being fitted with blinkers and she arrives here having gone close at Goodwood earlier in the month when finding only Spanish Star too strong in a handicap.
She can race from the same mark back on polytrack where her form reads 122 on this surface and this is her easiest assignment for some time where she should get a decent pace to aim at. There’d be no surprise then to see her firmly in the mix down in grade and she can get back to winning ways back on an artificial surface.
