Saturday all-weather best bets – Lingfield & Newcastle tips

Brian Healy gives his Saturday all-weather best bets and tips in every race for the day’s fixtures on the flat.

While the bad weather could scupper Saturday’s jumps racing action there is still all-weather racing for punters to take in with two scheduled fixtures going to post on the level.

Lingfield’s afternoon fixture on polytrack is subject to a morning inspection, while there is also an evening fixture under the floodlights at Newcastle on their tapeta surface.

Lingfield (flat, aw) – 1.25 – 4.20pm (6 races)
Newcastle (flat, aw) – 4.55 – 8.30pm (8 races)

Brian Healy casts his eye over both fixtures where he gives his Saturday all-weather best bets and tips in every race for Lingfield and Newcastle.

SATURDAY ALL-WEATHER BEST BETS AT A GLANCE

2.00 Lingfield – WIN WIN POWER (7/4, Bet365)
3.10 Lingfield – GREEN DOOR (10/3, William Hill)
5.30 Newcastle – BOBBY JOE LEG (15/8, William Hill)
6.30 Newcastle – MUTABAAHY (5/1, Bet365)
7.30 Newcastle – MORROOJ (11/10, Bet365)

LINGFIELD RACING TIPS

(2.00 Lingfield)

Those with prior experience don’t set the bar particularly high so it might pay to side with one of the newcomers and WIN WIN POWER (7/4, Bet365) can get off the mark at the first attempt.

The Exceed and Excel colt fetched 200,000 guineas as a yearling and is related to several winners so probably wouldn’t need to be anything out of the ordinary to collect this prize.

Richard Hannon’s charge has the plum inside draw to work from as well as the services of Sylvestre De Sousa for this debut outing. Likely to know his job ahead of this first run he can make a winning introduction in a relatively weak affair.

Saturday all-weather tips. Katchy can strike again at Lingfield.

Kachy can win again at Lingfield on Saturday.

(3.10 Lingfield)

GREEN DOOR (10/3, William Hill) bumped into one when finishing third at Chelmsford four days ago, but Robert Cowell’s charge had won over this course and distance the time before and looks worth chancing to quickly get back on the scoresheet.

The Camacho gelding was rated 109 at his best, but those days are long behind him now; but he showed he still retained ability when taking advantage of a sliding handicap rating here two starts ago with a short-head verdict over the reopposing Something Lucky who is 1lb better off.

He has a decent record here with three wins and two efforts in the frame from seven starts and the return of blinkers over the usual visor could spark a return to winning ways under Sylvestre De Sousa who takes the ride on board the veteran.

1.25 – Al Daiha
2.00 – Win Win Power
2.35 – Kachy
3.10 – Green Door
3.45 – El Ghazwani
4.20 – Sophar Sogood

NEWCASTLE RACING TIPS

(5.30 Newcastle)

Recent winning form is thin on the ground in this contest so Ruth Carr’s BOBBY JOE LEG (15/8, William Hill) could prove the answer having struck gold on his latest outing.

The Pastoral Pursuits gelding was ending a losing streak stretching back to April 2018 when winning at Wolverhampton and his defeats numbered 23 until gaining a half-length verdict over Don’t Be Surprised over this course and distance.

A 3lbs rise in the weights for that success is offset by his apprentice rider’s claim and while he’s none too consistent he could go close in a poor race if he can run to a similar level.

A Ruth Carr runner features in our Saturday all-weather best bets at Newcastle.

Trainer Ruth Carr can saddle a winner under the Newcastle floodlights on Saturday evening.

(6.30 Newcastle)

MUTABAAHY (5/1, Bet365) has won two of his last three starts – both at Wolverhampton – but Anthony Brittain’s charge can follow up his latest success over Sir Hector in December last year.

The Oasis Dream gelding ran out a two lengths’ winner under a double-penalty on that occasion, scoring readily and the runner-up has since boosted that form with a win of his own.

He’s been hit with a 9lbs rise in the weights which demands more from him upped in grade; but he has a good apprentice on board for this assignment and his rider’s 7lbs claim offsets most of his extra burden.

While he has yet to win at this venue, he looks worth chancing to break that hoodoo given he has run well here in the past; while a repeat of his latest run could see him going close.

(7.30 Newcastle)

MORROOJ (11/10, Bet365) was clearly well-fancied on her recent debut at Kempton last month where she was sent off favourite. Roger Varian’s charge wasn’t disgraced in that outing, eventually finishing fourth behind Badrah.

The Invincible Spirit filly was beaten just over three lengths, shaping as if she’d better for the run but showing some ability having missed the break and running green early before finishing off the race well.

She’ll come on a bundle for that experience and this extra furlong ought to suit so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see her show improvement for that first run to get off the mark now.

4.55 – Ice Pyramid
5.30 – Bobby Joe Leg
6.00 – Aegeus
6.30 – Mutabaahy
7.00 – Rideson
7.30 – Morrooj
8.00 – Ghathanfar
8.30 – Gunmaker
