Brian Healy gives his Saturday ITV Racing tips and best bets for the day’s televised action at Uttoxeter and Kempton.

The dust has settled on the 2020 Cheltenham Festival, but the big races continue to come thick and fast as attention now turns towards Aintree and the Grand National. However on Saturday there is the usual post-Cheltenham feature race that is the Midlands Grand National going to post on the card at Uttoxeter.

One of four races to be shown live from the Midlands track, the ITV Racing cameras will also have the best of the action from the card at Kempton and seven races in all will go to post throughout Saturday’s broadcast.

1:50 Uttoxeter – Marston’s Brewery Lady Riders’ Handicap Hurdle (Women Professional Jockeys And Amateur Riders’ Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-125) 2m7½f
2:05 Kempton – European Breeders Fund Paddy Power “National Hunt” EBF Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) (Final) Cl1 (4-7yo) 2m5f
2:25 Uttoxeter – 1834 Novices’ Handicap Chase Cl2 (5yo+) 3m
2:40 Kempton – Paddy Power Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle Cl2 (4yo+) 2m5f
3:00 Uttoxeter – Burton Union Handicap Hurdle Cl2 (4yo+ 0-150) 2m4f

3:35 Uttoxeter – Marston’s 61 Deep Midlands Grand National (An Open Handicap Chase) (Listed Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 4m2f

Ed Chamberlain and the team, fresh from Cheltenham, will be on hand again to offer up their usual expert tips, insights and post-race analysis on Saturday’s TV racing. Meanwhile Brian Healy looks over all seven of the day’s live races and gives his Saturday ITV Racing tips for all the day’s action.

SATURDAY ITV RACING TIPS AT A GLANCE

1:50 Uttoxeter – SAME CIRCUS (10/1, Ladbrokes)
2:05 Kempton – MCFABULOUS (5/2, William Hill)
2:25 Uttoxeter – MIDNIGHT TUNE (8/1, Betway)
2:40 Kempton – BULLIONAIRE (12/1, William Hill)
3:00 Uttoxeter – NORDANO (8/1, Betway)
3:15 Kempton – DRUMCONNOR LAD (11/1, William Hill)
3:35 Uttoxeter – TRUCKERS LODGE (7/1, Ladbrokes)

1:50 Uttoxeter – Marston’s Brewery Lady Riders’ Handicap Hurdle (Women Professional Jockeys And Amateur Riders’ Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-125) 2m7½f

SAME CIRCUS could be worth siding with returning to hurdles and the Brian Boru mare can make her presence felt here.

Donald McCain’s charge was an Aintree winner over timber back in October and although beaten on each of his next three starts she did run better than the bare result each time. Her last run over hurdles saw her finish fourth at Doncaster where the better ground might have been against her; but she found only only too good back over fences latest behind the useful Molly Childers.

She’s only 2lbs higher in the weights here than when posting her last success and with Abbie McCain taking off a handy 5lbs she could be worth chancing to get back on the winning trail.

2:05 Kempton – European Breeders Fund Paddy Power “National Hunt” EBF Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) (Final) Cl1 (4-7yo) 2m5f

MCFABULOUS might have got bogged down in the heavy ground at Ascot in the Kennel Gate Hurdle, failing to beat a rival home; but Paul Nicholls’ charge readily bounced back from that performance when running out an easy winner at Market Rasen last month.

The Milan gelding boasts some very solid form in bumpers and he made a promising introduction over hurdles at Chepstow in November.

Paul Nicholls’ charge now steps into the handicap ranks where an initial mark of 132 looks very workable given he has the potential for better to come and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him find a jolt of improvement to follow up given he remains relatively unexposed over hurdles.

This is competitive but he can make his presence felt here and he can register another win on his handicap debut.

2:25 Uttoxeter – 1834 Novices’ Handicap Chase Cl2 (5yo+) 3m

MIDNIGHT TUNE is a course and distance winner over fences and Anthony Honeyball’s charge can continue his good spell of form to win again.

The Midnight Legend mare struck here by a wide margin back in November and showed his versatility to add to his tally over a significantly shorter trip at Exeter in December.

The nine-year old probably found the Peter Marsh Chase too much of a test where she pulled up; but she readily bounced back from that effort to beat Molly Childers at Warwick last month.

He wore cheekpieces that day and he ran out a ready winner, scoring by three lengths; but there could still be more to come over fences where she remains relatively unexposed. She’s only been raised 3lbs for that latest win and having gone well here in the past she looks worth sticking with to strike again despite this being a step back up in class.

2:40 Kempton – Paddy Power Silver Plate Handicap Hurdle Cl2 (4yo+) 2m5f

BULLIONAIRE was a Uttoxeter winner back in December, beating Durouyn by a wide margin and Harry Fry’s charge can get back on the scoresheet having run well in defeat at Exeter next time behind subsequent Victor Ludorum Hurdle winner Sir Psycho.

That one ran well in the Triumph Hurdle on Friday, but he posted a very good effort of his own having led to the third last before tiring and he possibly just did too much. He finished clear of the third though and the form looks strong so he could have more to offer.

The handicapper has perhaps taken a chance allocating him 132 on his handicap debut, and with the potential for further improvement to come from him he can get back on the scoresheet here.

3:00 Uttoxeter – Burton Union Handicap Hurdle Cl2 (4yo+ 0-150) 2m4f

NORDANO bolted up in a competitive contest at Ascot when last seen out and the Jukebox Jury gelding can follow up here.

Neil King’s charge was a Chepstow winner earlier in the season, but he’s shown better form in defeat behind Allmankind twice and Goshen in subsequent outing prior to routing a decent field by 16 lengths last time out.

He showed the step up in class that day to hold no fears, making virtually all the running and readily coming clear of a useful field. That race has thrown up a subsequent winner and while the handicapper has hit him with a 12lbs rise for that easy win there is a suspicion he has more in the locker and can follow up here.

3:15 Kempton – Paddy Power Silver Bowl Handicap Chase Cl2 (5yo+) 2m4½f

DRUMCONNOR LAD bolted up from this mark at Ayr last Saturday and the Winged Love gelding could be worth chancing to quickly follow up and secure his hat-trick.

Adrian Keatley’s charge has returned from a break in good fettle, shaping as if needing the run on his return at Thurles and building on that effort to finish third at Cork next time.

He took another forward step to get off the mark for the season at Leopardstown on Boxing Day, beating Batico by a half-length and he finished well on top latest at the Scottish track with a three lengths’ defeat of Vengeur De Guye.

That bare form perhaps needs improving upon, but racing here from an unchanged mark he could well make his presence felt despite this representing a step back up in class.

His current headgear combination is working well, giving rise to both recent wins and if continuing in his current vein of form then he can give a good account.

3:35 Uttoxeter – Marston’s 61 Deep Midlands Grand National (An Open Handicap Chase) (Listed Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 4m2f

TRUCKERS LODGE did his reputation as a staying chaser no harm at all when finding only Potter’s Corner too strong in the Welsh Grand National, beaten less than two lengths; but the Westerner gelding can go one better here.

Paul Nicholls’ charge had won the time before at the same venue in October, but he could find another jolt of improvement stepping up markedly in trip.

He was smart over hurdles, winning twice and making the frame in a Grade Two contest as a novice; but he has looked a thorough stayer in his starts over fences and he could relish this extreme test given they went a decent clip at Chepstow in the Welsh Grand National.

The race has thrown up a subsequent winner in Yala Enki and only 2lbs higher here he could gain some compensation returning from a break.
