Brian Healy gives his Saturday Kempton placepot tips for the day’s feature meeting at the Sunbury venue.

The dust might be settling now on the Cheltenham Festival, but we head to Kempton on Saturday for the day’s feature meeting. We’re looking to win big for a small stake by playing the Tote Placepot at the main Saturday feature where we’re hoping to land a share of the winning dividend.

To play the Tote Placepot, simply pick one or more horses in each of the first six races to make the frame according to the number of runners in the race. The beauty of the Tote Placepot is that selections don’t have to win the race; but if they finish in the places in each of the six races then a big slice of the winning pie could be waiting! Our Tote Placepot tips are below.

To work out stakes, simply multiply the number of selections in each race together. Remember though, minimum cost per line is 10p and a minimum of £1 total needs to be staked.

In addition to the Tote Placepot, punters can also bet Tote singles and we’ve picked out a couple of runners in our Placepot perm who could post big runs in their respective races.

Bear in mind that The Tote will match the winners’ starting price if it returns bigger than the declared single win dividend so punters are guaranteed to get the best value.

1:00 Kempton – Race One

(2) FIDELIO VALLIS – Placed twice in France prior to joining Paul Nicholls, but has shown steadily progressive form in his three starts over hurdles and got off the mark at the third attempt when scoring readily at Wincanton in February.

Jumping left something to be desired that day, but he did the job well and likely has more to offer. This is a tougher test of his credentials taking in a stronger contest, but he should make his presence felt.

(Back Fidelio Vallis as a win single with The Tote and if the SP is bigger than the Tote Win dividend, get paid out at SP)

(4) GLOBAL SOCIETY – Disappointed here last time out, racing too free and failing to get home over the longer trip. However he had looked a very good prospect when scoring on his hurdles debut at Doncaster in January.

The Shirocco gelding had finished runner-up three times in Irish bumpers for Gordon Elliott, and he could bounce back here with a better effort returning to a more suitable trip and with a hood applied.

1:30 Kempton – Race Two

(2) DR SANDERSON – Won three of his five starts over hurdles last term, but shaped like more of a stayer so this trip is a slight worry despite winning twice over the distance over hurdles.

However he has looked gradually progressive over fences, posting his best effort yet when finding only one too good at Ludlow last time. He carries the JP McManus colours which enjoyed great success at the Cheltenham Festival and if the shorter trip doesn’t catch him out then he ought to go close.

(4) RETURN TICKET – Showed useful form over hurdles last term and has looked steadily progressive over fences, latterly finding only one too good at Catterick in January where he was just outbattled by Schiehallion Munro.

Ruth Jefferson’s charge had been thought worth chancing in a Grade One chase the time before but he cut little ice at that level. This is more suitable and a repeat of his Catterick effort where he contests here from the same mark should put him firmly in the mix.

2:05 Kempton – Race Three

(5) HURRICANE HARVEY – Showed some decent ability in bumpers and has carried on his progress to hurdling, winning two of his last three starts which includes a ready success at Wincanton latest over Southfield Harvest.

That form has been boosted and he switches to handicaps from a mark that could prove workable. With the potential for better to come he can go well in a competitive contest.

(Back Hurricane Harvey as a win single with The Tote and if the SP is bigger than the Tote Win dividend, get paid out at SP)

(12) FIRST LORD DE CUET – Plumpton bumper winner who has taken well to hurdling, finishing a good fourth on debut at Wincanton behind Edwardstone before getting off the mark at the second attempt with a win at Southwell.

The Lord Du Sud gelding stepped up again to go down by less than one length at Haydock when last seen behind Ebony Jewel and he might be improved by having had a wind operation. David Pipe’s charge should be suited by this step up in trip and can post a big effort.

2:40 Kempton – Race Four

(9) TAMAROC DU MATHAN – Winner in France who has shown useful form in three starts since joining Paul Nicholls, including finding only one too strong at Ascot on his first outing for the Ditcheat trainer.

Not seen to best effect in heavy ground back there next time, he posted a much improved run faced with better ground at Newbury in the Betfair Hurdle, eventually finishing fifth. He’s only 3lbs higher here and a repeat of that run could be good enough to see him in the mix.

(11) BULLIONAIRE – Won a Newbury bumper on debut and he’s had a few absences since although he’s shown what he can do over hurdles this term, finishing third to Sporting John at Exeter in November before getting back on the scoresheet next time at Uttoxeter.

Ran well without matching easy winner Sir Psycho at Exeter when last seen out/ But he has been freshened up since and can bounce back from that run which has seen the form franked. Open to further improvement he can make his presence felt.

3:15 Kempton – Race Five

(4) DELIRE D’ESTRUVAL – won twice last term and has shaped encouragingly in his three starts to date this campaign despite his yard largely being quiet.

He’s twice made the frame in successive starts at Sandown, latterly finishing third to Dolos last month and he’s been eased 1lb in the weights. Yard are doing better now and the Youmzain gelding should remain competitive so he can make his presence felt here.

(11) DRUMCONNOR LAD – Hacked up at Ayr seven days ago to back up an earlier success at Leopardstown on Boxing Day. Adrian Keatley’s charge can continue with his current rich vein of form to get competitive in this stronger race.

The Winged Love gelding won a shade cosily latest and he’s quickly turned out here from the same mark. While he’s upped in class here he could nonetheless continue his good spell of form to post another big effort.

(Back Drumconnor Lad as a win single with The Tote and if the SP is bigger than the Tote Win dividend, get paid out at SP)

3:50 Kempton – Race Six

(7) ON TO VICTORY – Useful on the flat for Eve Johnson Houghton and has shaped encouragingly on all three starts over hurdles to date, twice making the frame following an unseat on his hurdles debut.

Third at Newbury behind Mister Coffey, he found only one too good latest behind Perfect Harmony over this course and distance where he wasn’t helped by a last-hurdle mistake. He can continue to progress and the possibility of a stronger pace could see him improve again.
