SATURDAY PUNCHESTOWN RACING TIPS – BEST BETS ON THE DAY’S IRISH RACECARD

1:50 Punchestown – Ladbrokes Handicap Chase (4yo+) 2m

Lightly-raced LE MUSIGNY won a hurdles contest on his first attempt following his switch out of the point-to-point ranks and joining Henry De Bromhead, beating The Broghie Man by a half-length and the Anzillero gelding has faced a couple of stiff tasks since being sent chasing last term.

Runner-up to Darver Star on his chase debut here he was last seen finishing fifth to Easywork at Navan; he’ll find this company a little easier on his return where he makes his first start in a handicap for a yard that has been flying in recent days.

An opening mark of 131 over fences could prove to be very workable and he’s open to improvement given he’s very lightly raced and there’d be no surprise to see him going close.

2:25 Punchestown – Ladbrokes Committed To Safer Gambling Hurdle (4yo+) 2m3½f

SNOW FALCON has been hard to win with but still possesses plenty of ability for an eleven-year old and the veteran might be worth chancing here to end his losing streak.

The Presenting gelding struck his last win back in October 2019 over fences at Gowran Park, but he’s made the frame on numerous occasions since including when switched back to hurdling for the first time in four years at Killarney latest where he finished third behind Darasso.

A repeat of that effort can see him getting competitive again and he can make the most of the weight he receives to snap his winless run with his proven stamina an asset in these conditions.

3:00 Punchestown – Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Maiden Hurdle (Div I) (4yo+) 2m½f

PURDEY’S GIFT found only one too good on his hurdles debut at Fairyhouse back in January where he was beaten a half-length behind Light Brigade and Sneezy Foster’s charge can improve for that experience to get off the mark in this sphere.

A winner on the flat for Andrew Balding the Camelot gelding was last seen competing on the flat at Navan where he failed to fire and didn’t beat a rival home behind Hook Head although the ground might have been quick for him.

His flat win came on the all-weather and his highly promising hurdles debut came in the mud so he could benefit from a return to a softer surface and likely to step up for that experience he can go one better here.

3:35 Punchestown – Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost Maiden Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+) 2m½f

BANBRIDGE placed twice in points prior to joining Joseph O’Brien and the Doyen gelding has shaped well in two starts in bumpers, winning on the second occasion at Killarney earlier in the month and he can follow up here.

He was impressive in that victory, posting an eight lengths’ victory over Goldwin Magic where he readily came clear and he should have further improvement to come. Despite being weak in the market he looked a decent prospect and now tackling hurdles he can progress further.

Both placed efforts in points came in deep ground and he should go well here where he can get off the mark at the first attempt over timber.
