Saturday’s Daily Double – Best bets at Ayr and Chelmsford
Chris Loader rolls his two best bets today into this Daily Double, covering races at Ayr and Chelmsford on Saturday 7th March.
It is isn’t very long until the Cheltenham Festival now and we are going to be trying to build up the funds for next week. Today my selections will be a short priced double but both have solid form claims. I’m hoping we can make it a Super Saturday! Best odds available with William Hill.

Saturday’s Daily Double
3.40 Ayr – Marown
I’ve been interested in following Marown after his successes at Ayr and Newcastle. His last start was his first attempt over hurdles for Nicky Richards and he won in game style to beat Sirwilliamwallace who’s already boosted the form by winning at Kelso in January. This race looks a weak affair and connections are keeping him busy to gain more experience for him to go chasing next season. Despite being a short price I don’t see much opposing him and with Richards operating at a 38% win rate in the last fortnight the son of Milan will he tough to beat.
7.30 Chelmsford – Mildenberger
With our second leg we head to Essex for a small but classy All-Weather Fast Track Qualifier. Mildenberger hasn’t been the most straightforward horse for Mark Johnston but was back to winning ways at Lingfield last time out. In that race the five-year-old beat Original Choice who won for Nick Littmoden at Wolverhampton on Monday. The obvious danger is Weekender for John Gosden who’s undefeated at Chelmsford. However I’m worried about his lack of fitness and in this tactical affair I suspect our selection to come out on top.
