The Irish horse racing action continues on Saturday and we remain at Tramore for another day of racing where the action reverts to the flat with a seven-race card going to post at the County Waterford track.
We’ve picked out Saturday’s Tramore best bets on the card for the day’s sole fixture in Ireland.
SATURDAY’S TRAMORE BEST BETS – IRISH HORSE RACING TIPS
5:20 Tramore – Dan Cowman Memorial Maiden (3yo+) 1m4f
ZUMA ROCK won a bumper at Clonmel back in May, scoring a shade readily after which Willie Mullins’ charge tackled a maiden contest on the flat the following month where the Shirocco mare finished sixth.
That was a decent effort as she led into the final quarter of a mile but faded out of contention and she could do better faced with this shorter trip in this sphere.
The form of that last run has been boosted with the winner, runner-up and third all winning since and she’s open to plenty of progress in this sphere for her top yard so there’d be no surprise in seeing her firmly in the mix again.
5:55 Tramore – Core Bullion Traders Rated Race (3yo) 1m4f
SOCIAL DISTANCE won twice back in May, scoring back-to-back victories at Roscommon and Sligo prior to a short break and Jessica Harrington’s charge hasn’t been disgraced in either start including in a competitive heat at Galway latest when finishing fourth behind Bell Ex One.
The New Bay filly has seen that form take a small boost with the sixth horse home going close next time and she can compete here from the same mark although Scott McCullagh’s can take 5lbs off her back and she ought to be capable of making her presence felt from her effective 58 rating when factoring her rider’s claim dropping back in trip.
6:25 Tramore – Strand Inn Dunmore Handicap (3yo+ 45-65) 1m4f
APRIL’S JOY doesn’t have too many miles on the clock on the flat and Gavin Cromwell’s charge can get back to winning ways here.
The Ask mare won on the flat last July at Bellewstown, following up an earlier win over hurdles at Kilbeggan although she went off the boil thereafter and was absent for eight months until returning with a good third at Cork in May.
She’s since won back over hurdles at Downpatrick and ran creditably to finish fourth behind Franno at Fairyhouse latest back on the flat; that form is fair and a repeat would put her firmly in the mix here from what remains a winnable mark.
6:55 Tramore – Perennial Freight Tramore Handicap (3yo+) 1m4f
ZERO TEN has plenty of weight to carry here but Emmet Mullins’ charge could prove hard to beat having impressed when scoring at Galway last month.
The Shantou gelding was having just his second start on the flat having been a regular winner both over hurdles and fences previously, running out a three lengths’ victor over Ciel D’afrique in that first flat success and there could be better to come from him.
That form has been boosted with one of the also-rans from that race going on to score since and while this tougher switching to a handicap under a big weight he should give another good account and can strike again.
